Wondering if the $10 difference in cost from Amazon ($39.99 to $49.99) is worth the buy. Don't own any of the movies......

Thanks
Yes, they've been the same discs since forever.

Received my Fast & Furious 1-6 Collection - Limited Edition yesterday and for the $39.99 I paid, it is an awesome buy. Also sold the UV codes for $17 so technically I only paid $22.99

The collectible tire packaging is of very high quality too and I am very glad is not made of cheap plastic.

And by forever means since the first blu-rays were released in 2009 with the roman numeral slipcovers. I have all those original versions w/ slips and each subsequent film thereafter, which is why I passed on the tire set. It looks pretty sweet and doesn't seem to be cheaply made from what I've heard.

The tire part is rubber but I think this whole idea of "not cheaply made" is overstating it a bit. As I mentioned, inside the tire, the actual spindle and tray attached to the spindle is just a cheap little plastic thing, thinner even than the plastic on a Solo cup. It is not attached to the tire and can simply be lifted out. The reverse side of the tire is just flat blank plastic. It's far better than, say, Universal's Big Lebowski bowling ball (which was much cheaper plastic and had the discs in cardboard sleeves inside), but it's still basically just a toy.

Hey, slip nerds: some new ones out there. Inside, the same green/blue/orange/red/purple/yellow art you've already seen.

I see they will be releasing 1-7 in the tire packaging again but I wonder if they will also release it in the box set like in the past. I don't own any of the movies and want to get them but I don't care for the whole tire thing..
What, me worry?

And then when the 8th one comes out we'll have new packaging for those to match and not match the old ones

That's fine... The series ended for me with either 6 or 7.
6 if no After Credits Scene is watched, 7, if it is...

Am I correct to assume the new 1-7 collection has the same bonus disc as the 1-7 tire collection? http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Fast-a...lu-ray/151381/

  • An Early Look at Furious 7
  • Furious 7 Theatrical Trailer
  • Furious 7 Retrospective

I couldn't resist the 7-pack for $28 today. I am not a huge car guy and remember not liking the first movie much, but I've gotten a lot more into modern action movies since then and I hear the series got more and more traditionally action focused.

Anyway, my question is: which movies should I skip, if any? I'm pretty sure Fast Five and up are the ones I will like the most, so if I can skip the second and third movies without Diesel I think that might be a good idea.

I guess I'm not a great one to speak on it seeing as I've not watched the third one yet but it ties in really closely with the events of the seventh one, and it was the movie that brought in Justin Lin, director for 3-6.

Depending on how important this is for you, I'd actually recommend watching 2 and 3 for proper introductions of certain characters. And as has been said, certain things about 3 do play a fairly big role later on in the franchise.

Can't wait for these in 4k UHD. Hope it happens sooner rather than later.

First three are okay-ish, the fourth is the worst of the bunch, but the series doesn't start to get REALLY fun until the 5th entry, where they threw aside the whole "street racing" aspect and turned the franchise into an Ocean's 11 On Wheels series of heist movies.

At this point, people should just give up any hope for package consistency with this series.
