I personally find Arrow and Masters of Cinema blow Criterion and Indicator out the water, once you factor in you can get the former for under £10 regularly .

So is Jason and the Argonauts.

Isn't Harryhausen set 2 actually number 3. Sinbad is number 1, then Harryhausen set 1 is 2.

Arrow (Academy for me) and MoC are definitely what I consider top tier, alongside Indicator and CC.

My only "problem" with them, and it's purely personal to me, is that much of their energy and effort has been expended on films I don't much regard or rate, especially the box sets. Never mind....
.
Iíve only been able to admire the box-sets from afar thus far, as the content hasnít interested me enough. Thatís set to change with the Five Tall Tales and Fuller oneís tho.

On an unrelated note, my wife was using my Indicator tote last night and apparently she attracted the attention of a right odd-ball. I donít suppose it was any of you guys was it?

Hey!

Has anyone here purchased an indicator box(or any other kind of delux boxset) from base.com, how is packaging from that seller?

I chuckled at this.

Also I agree about the box sets so far. I did pay £35-ish for the second Harryhausen volume (mostly for Mysterious Island) but did get the previous two Harryhausen sets on the cheap (£20-ish), even if it's not usually my kinda thing. I will get some enjoyment out of them I hope but can always sell them on if I decide they're not essential.

However, the Boetticher and Fuller sets have me very much excited - and even more so if Night of the Demon turns out to be a mini box set! I'm sure they'll do other ones - anyone else notice Nick Wrigley is tweeting about Sirk at the moment? I'd be all over any set of his Universal titles, most of which he's more renowned for (and often star Rock Hudson, who I'm a big fan of).

A Sirk/Hudson Universal box set would be bloody perfect, a lot of those titles are well overdue a UK blu release.

I've maintained for years that my ideal box set would collect together Sirk's remakes with Stahl's originals, and they can even nick the title that the Anthology Film Archives used when they programmed that season: Imitations of Life.

Imitation of Life (1934, Stahl) / Imitation of Life (1959, Sirk)
Magnificent Obsession (1935, Stahl) / Magnificent Obsession (1954, Sirk)
When Tomorrow Comes (1939, Stahl) / Interlude (1957, Sirk)

It would allow for some fascinating extras on both directors' styles and remakes. It's also probably the only way we'll ever see When Tomorrow Comes (possibly Stahl's best film) and Interlude on Blu-Ray.

Depends what the tweet actually said. I'll contain my excitement for now but the prospect of a Sirk set in 2019 would be awesome.

Films I would like to see on Blu Ray (In no particular order) : The Phantom Lady (1944) Local Hero (1983) The 7 Faces of Dr Lao (1964) Martin (1977) Straight To Hell (1980) Escape From Sobibor (1987) The Phantom Tollbooth (1970) The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972)

Given that Mr Hinds was born and died in the month of September, and that there are no relevant Indicator releases this month, you would think this is a hint relating to the next set of announcements (which are at least 2-3 weeks away btw). Interestingly, it could point towards a Hammer or William Castle set, given the mention of The Old Dark House. While it was said that The Damned is coming later in the year, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a non-horror Hammer set next, and The Stranglers of Bombay and The Camp on Blood Island would very probably be included in that (the latter is also a Val Guest title, and we know a couple are forthcoming from Indicator, Yesterday's Enemy most likely being the other). In Hammer terms, releasing a war/adventure/historical set in June and a horror set in Sep/Oct obviously makes a lot of sense.

I don't believe I Only Arsked is with Sony, though even if it was I'd be surprised if Indicator acquired it.
