Yes. Absolutely my line of thinking.

If anything, Indicator's extras have been consistently more plentiful than Criterion's - and more interesting IMO. Criterion includes many "excerpts", or parts of documentaries borrowed from foreign sources, Indicator produces their own many times.

Couldn't agree more. I find Criterion's supplements more like bloatware - focus on quantity over quality. Their commentaries frequently put me to sleep. there is a lot of 'stuff' in the extras, but not all of them are interesting to me.

Also, I feel you need to take $ into consideration when comparing any two companies. Indicator averages $10-$15/movie. Criterion is - at best on sale- $20/movie.

So, imho, I view Indicator as a better price performer and higher quality than Criterion. Just my opinion.

I personally find Arrow and Masters of Cinema blow Criterion and Indicator out the water, once you factor in you can get the former for under £10 regularly .

So is Jason and the Argonauts.

Isn't Harryhausen set 2 actually number 3. Sinbad is number 1, then Harryhausen set 1 is 2.

Arrow (Academy for me) and MoC are definitely what I consider top tier, alongside Indicator and CC.

My only "problem" with them, and it's purely personal to me, is that much of their energy and effort has been expended on films I don't much regard or rate, especially the box sets. Never mind....
.
Iíve only been able to admire the box-sets from afar thus far, as the content hasnít interested me enough. Thatís set to change with the Five Tall Tales and Fuller oneís tho.

On an unrelated note, my wife was using my Indicator tote last night and apparently she attracted the attention of a right odd-ball. I donít suppose it was any of you guys was it?

Hey!

Has anyone here purchased an indicator box(or any other kind of delux boxset) from base.com, how is packaging from that seller?

I chuckled at this.

Also I agree about the box sets so far. I did pay £35-ish for the second Harryhausen volume (mostly for Mysterious Island) but did get the previous two Harryhausen sets on the cheap (£20-ish), even if it's not usually my kinda thing. I will get some enjoyment out of them I hope but can always sell them on if I decide they're not essential.

However, the Boetticher and Fuller sets have me very much excited - and even more so if Night of the Demon turns out to be a mini box set! I'm sure they'll do other ones - anyone else notice Nick Wrigley is tweeting about Sirk at the moment? I'd be all over any set of his Universal titles, most of which he's more renowned for (and often star Rock Hudson, who I'm a big fan of).

A Sirk/Hudson Universal box set would be bloody perfect, a lot of those titles are well overdue a UK blu release.
