I am sure the DVD looks much worse. Are you sure you have your setup calibrated? Also, you need to consider that most of the film takes place during a storm, which doesn't warrant extreme clarity. I am curious if an AVC high bitrate codec would make it look even better, but I was pleasantly surprised. Last edited by Bluyoda; 03-18-2013 at 11:08 AM. |

Probably not the worst but certainly the most disapointing for me given its a reasonably recent release, was The Dark Knight. There are worse transfers, but most of the ones people gripe about are older films, sourced from often (not always) older masters. TDK is a very recent film, no excuse for a bad image.

This is strange, because normally Bond flicks are all quality releases.

"The Dirty Dozen". Too much inconsistency. Sometimes it looks grainy, sometimes it doesn't.

Interview with a vampire
Also, the UK edition of The Prestige. I imported the locked region A version from the US, which is one of the best presentations in my collection. Both are from Warner, for some reason Warner do some lazy releases, although I find their extras are really good. |

Supposedly is correct. I saw the rumor on the forums last year, but WB has yet to announce anything about it. This is the film's 20th Anniversary, to be sure if we were going to get a remaster, it would be this year. But so far, nada.

Also agree with the Fugitive. I actually prefer the DVD transfer. Not much of improvement in details, but what's worst is that blu-ray seem to have hazy, smear look sometimes that DVD never had.
I'm curious with the "Italian Job" Would you rate as worst as the "Fugitive" or better? I already have the DVD, but with the Italian Job blu-ray having the movie ticket for the new GI Joe, I might buy it. Is the transfer not worth it if you have the DVD already? This site did give only 2 rating for video. Does this transfer also have that smear look? |

Donnie Darko. Virtually indistinguishable from my DVD copy in every way, even doing a direct side-by-side comparison.
I also agree on Superman Returns. TERRIBLE blu-ray of a film that desperately needed at least a stellar presentation to elevate the material as much as it possibly could. |
