I haven't seen the S590 upconversion so I can't comment on that. However, the S790 have a better video processor so I assume BD and DVD playback is better than the S590.

I have not heard on the 590 either. Id assume they are both mediatek solutions, difference being the 790 has a new 4K version. mediatek in the past has been very good with DVD.

Thank you. I just read a review on them and I think the 590 is missing the processor. But it's good to know there is a cheaper option instead of the OPPO. Thanks again!
