Well, all medium's are generally more expensive when they're new. BD is not exactly new

I laugh at people defending the $$$ titles (especially Twilight Time) by acting like pricing is black and white and that people are either A) willing to pay for quality or B) cheapskates. There is a lot of middle-ground between a $5 bargain bin title, and a $36 Twilight Time title. It's what kept me from grabbing The Other, Thunderbolt and Lightfoot, the Sinbad movies, the Flint movies, etc., where I would of been willing to pay $20-25

...and I gladly paid for both Demons titles (and I will get any future Synapse releases at that price since Synapse more than deserves the money for the work they do)
Release wishlist: Dolls Sisters Deadfall (1993) Vampire's Kiss The Hidden Don't Look Now Man Bites Dog The Brood The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover Something Wicked This Way Comes Don't Torture a Duckling Black Belly of the Tarantula Brain Damage

Well personally I don't give a rat's about Suspiria, you couldn't pay me to take it and in my opinion is one of the most overrated movies ever made.
But Demons 1 and 2 are great for me because they are incredibly fun.

My point being, if you're a real fan of Demons, this is the edition to have, so don't be a cheapskate, you won't regret it, but you obviously aren't so the comment wasn't directed at you.

It isn't uncommon in Australia to pay that much for limited editions (the major local supplier here is JB HIFI, their limited editions steelbook blu's are regularly $45) those in the UK, U.S. wouldn't really understand that, you don't have suppliers that routinely release stuff only deliverable within the release country or Europe, then to get gouged on eBay or group buys by sellers just wanting to make a buck off collectors unfortunate enough not to live in those countries. That's part of the reason I'm glad play.com don't do limited editions anymore.

And you proved my point, if you really like a movie, you'll pay the earth for it with your comment about Suspiria.

Suspiria is far from the worse movie ever made but it ain't no masterpiece either. IMO, the movie is way overrated.

You have a lot of giallo and Argento in your collection, so I'd be curious as to why you think that

Is suspiria considered a giallo? For some reason I never really thought of it as one.

Not in the true sense of the word no, but Giallo has come to represent quite a few Italian horror/ mystery's from a certain period.

Honestly, that's the first time I've heard such a statement.

Then maybe it is just me. Maybe Euro Horror would be more apt.

Yep, one of my favourites too

I hope Synapse can get this out before then end of next year. In any case, it'll be worth the wait.

Suspiria was my first Italian Horror movie. I had avoided watching anything Italian but a friend of mine recommended it. I like it because the blood looks like art, almost beautiful. Very well done film.

Suspiria is the only Argento film I consider a masterpiece and worthy of its praise. I've watched many of Argento's other cult classics but hated them, with the exceptions of Opera (8/10) and Inferno (6/10). The acting and music are really distracting but for whatever reason I was able to look past them for Suspiria.

I finally got a chance to properly sit down and watch the BD of the first film that I bought months ago.

Synapse did an amazing job. Indoor and outdoor scenes are both beautiful.

I've never seen these but decided to pick them up at Horrothound weekend in Cincinnati. So now I'm sitting on two gorgeous steelbooks that I bought to "collect" and now I want to watch them!

I'm curious about the audio included. I'm not a big fan of subtitles, but I like "dubbed" movies less! The included audio that is listed as "international dubbed".....is that English spoken over the movie?

Sorry for such newb questions

All 3 soundtracks, included the Italian, are dubbed. Many Italian films of this era had no on set sound recording. The vast majority of the actors are acting in English. So it's not "wrong" at all to go with an English track. I go for Italian with these though because the English acting is unbearably atrocious. The sound on the Italian track sounds best also.

That's actually incorrect. In the case of the Demons franchise, most of them are speaking Italian with the exception of two or three who are speaking English.

In other situations, it's whatever the actor's native language is. Look at Suspiria and Tenebre where actors are speaking in English, Italian, and German.
