I'm glad most people here are talking about whether or not it would be in actual HD, as in mastered from film and not from videotapes or anything.
As opposed to all the complaining I've seen about whether or not it would be censored that is.

But I think most of Ramms+ein's videos are brilliant, almost like short films, very creative and all that. And I'm also really hoping they were shot on film.
Or at least most of them. Otherwise this release would be totally unnecessary, to be on Blu-ray anyway.

Also, someone mentioned that otherwise the main thing would be the music in HD.
But, although that might be nice, for the later albums it doesn't really matter, cause they were victims of the Loudness War.
So unless they remaster the audio completely, lossless wouldn't do much good to those songs.
And if you'd want lossless, the CDs are actually already lossless, even if "limited" to 16bit and all that.

And as for this: "If you remember that "Michael Jackson's Vision" box set a few years ago - with every MJ music video in it - it was still in pretty crummy SD quality. If they had the ability to put out a blu-ray version with the videos in true HD, they would have."

I have to disagree. It was most likely still a byproduct of MJ's death, which would have sold no matter what quality, and they know that.

And if you mean they couldn't because there's no source to master in HD anymore, I doubt that MJ's estate doesn't have all that material still archived somewhere. You know, he archived everything, even hiring people to shoot rehearsals.
But I'm pretty sure they could have done better and ever done an HD-release if they really cared about the videos.

As for this release, I'm feeling pretty positive it might be mostly HD, because otherwise they'd have done the same and stuck with DVD.
It would be a disgrace if at least half of the main feature's video wouldn't be in HD.

I'd like to think (and hope) you're right, but it was such a joke to save the film negatives for music videos. They DEFINITELY saved Digibeta masters, but saving film cans for a television medium after everything's been telecined was a rare thing - even for the music video titans like Madonna.

Another DVD version has popped up on Rammstein's German webshop, which will include the explicit version of "P u s s y". However, at this time, there is no Blu-ray edition, and it appears that this version will only be sold with valid ID (i.e. an FSK-18 release) within Germany. I have no idea if the international versions will include this, or if some countries will see their own separate release , but I can tell you that the video would not be permitted in Japan, or in the UK (without at least an '18' certificate).

Jesus H. Christ. That is going to make me kinda sad, as I managed to preorder the Bluray on Amazon before this site announced it, for $37 instead of the current $50. I'll be quite peeved about the potential censoring of the videos (primarily P*ssy) mostly because NOWHERE does it state/indicate/hint that the content has been censored in any way.

I can only imagine some people who bought/preordered the censored version (without any *CENSORED* warnings) are going to be highly displeased that there is now an UN-censored version, for the same price.

I guess I'll just have to hope and pray that the bluray is all uncensored, hence the lack of a "bluray w/ Original P*ssy" on their site. I mostly just hate the COMPLETELY BLURRED "red smear" or "heat sensor" censorship they did. The expressions on the band members faces were hilarious to say the least. Even if they just pixelated the naughty bits, I would be content. I just hate that they destroyed entire sections of the video in order to "censor" it (porn or not).

The original version of the video contains XXX content, but the FSK-16 version has always been censored.

P u s s y is censored? What the hell is the point in even putting the video on there if half of it is blurred out? I always thought Rammstein were pretty good when it came to QC, but the more I hear about this blu the more I get the feeling that it'll just be the videos shoved on a disc as part of a record company cashgrab which, considering it's far from cheap, would be a bit of a pisstake.

EDIT: People are also saying that "the more recent videos are in HD". Does anyone know when that starts from? I'm hoping around Reise, Reise but fear it will only be from LIFAD onwards.

I'm from the USA, so while I don't know what FSK means, I'll assume the -16 denotes you have to be "16yrs old" to buy.

My point is: I first saw the "original version" before it got shot down in flames by the censors, leaving only porn sites to host the content (still free, mind you). I figured there would be censored versions for sale, but I would expect (through truth in advertising) that if the video was censored, it would be listed as "Censored" or "PG-13" version, (or in your case: FSK-16 version). Hell, even the title is UNCENSORED on the box from what I've seen, which does NOT indicate at all that the video would be censored.

Again, I wouldn't mind a censored version if it were merely blurred/pixelated strategically (ie: the naughty bits are no longer visible, but the rest of the shot is.) instead of the full-screen "shades of red blur" which completely removes the video from the music VIDEO for many segments.

Hi, Well for those who want an awesome release of Rammtein videos, I'm sorry because only "Mein Land, Mein Herz brennt – Piano Version and Mein Herz brennt" are in HD, the rest have been upscaled and the video "*****" is censored. Although most of the videos are upscaled, the audio is good.
P.S. Sorry for my english. I bought the blu-ray yesterday in Mexico and is the german version with the fsk 16 sticker.

THE censored video is actually done very will with quick cuts and such. It's disappointing but I doubt I'd know it was censored if I hadn't seen the full cut. It's still pretty explicit. Mein Herz Brennt is also censored, albeit well. Most disappointing thing for me is the fact that the Keine Lust video isn't the flamethrower version

On of the Mexican Rammstein fan websites is confirming that there are only 3 videos that are in actual 1080p - everything else is SD. I'm waiting to hear back if the videos are even presented in lossless DTS-HD MA 5.1.

This is going to be a major bummer if they're only in stereo or some low resolution crap.

Seriously?

I'll never understand why anyone, especially a group as epic as Rammstein, would put out a product that is less than insanely epic.

I've got it preordered anyway, I suppose I can't ***** too much since a friend bought it for me and it's my consolation prize for not snagging the MiG super deluxe edition. I'll take the $50 bluray over the $150 dvd/cd set anyday. Especially since I already have their music. Maybe I'll snag the deluxe edition of MiG for the remix album someday.

Looks like a 2 week delay. Amazon now says Jan 29th and it disappeared from the Best Buy website.

Release has been delayed until February. An announcement will be made next week with the new date. Delay was due to an error in production at the manufacturing plant.

Just browsed through the 2 blu-ray discs in my set and I can sum it up in one word: disappointing. This set is nowhere near HD in picture or sound. Only the last three seem to be HD (Mein Land, Mein Herz Brennt-2 versions). The discs have the FSK 16 labels and some of the videos are censored versions. I don't know what they could have done with the original source material but it looks like no effort was made to upgrade the transfers or sound. If you already have the Made In Germany Super Deluxe set with the videos then this is comparable unless you actually have to have the three new videos (and yes I'm a huge fan and had to have them).

Despite the lack of HD video and audio on this release (dissapointing and expensive), it is the most comprehensive video compilation in a nice digipack and as a fan I have to have it. Right now you can get a decent deal from Deep Discount with promo code RAINYDAY you can get it for $28.40 shipped, which is 10 bucks cheaper than Amazon and 5 cheaper than on eBay.
