To be honest, I despise Eurotrash/sleaze/mondo/exploitation/softcore/gore/giallo films, which is why, from the time period and brief description, I thought Orlof might be more 'legitimate' and a relatively straight-forward and atmospheric horror film.

I'll probably pick up Virgin Among the Living Dead, saw it a few years ago and it's really oddball. Also interested in seeing the alternate version. I own Nightmares Come at Night on DVD, and imo it is super, super awful. After I watched it I had the urge to throw it out immediately just to get it out of my house. Nonetheless, I love that Redemption puts stuff like this out.

Orlof is shot in black and white, isn't very gory at all and I think just a lite amount of nudity I think I liked it because it was atmospheric...it kinda reminded me of some of those Spanish horrors like Brainiac etc... Maybe you can rent it first ? |

Came to this thread looking for info about the Kino Spring Clearance Sale. I've spotted some DVDs on their site that are as low as $7.99, but all the Blu-Rays are only 25-30% off, which isn't much. Here I thought I would finally buy the Keaton set... Anyone have any advice on what prices are good deals?

If you get on Kino's email list, sometimes there are special selected super-sales that last for a only a few days to a week or so but are not advertised in their catalog or on line. Back in December I was able to get Blu-rays direct from Kino of AJAMI, DOGTOOTH, Moroder's METROPOLIS, POETRY, and LE QUATTRO VOLTE for only $9.99 each, and the Blu-ray of DAVID HOLZMAN'S DIARY was only 7.99! Most were movies I would never have bought at list price, or typical 20% discounts, or even importCDs discounts, but for $8-$10 each on Blu-ray I really couldn't resist. POETRY is now one of my favorites, and the others are all certainly worth seeing at least once.

The art is up on several websites, perhaps even this one. I'm concerned that it won't have RABID DOGS on it...it's not mentioned at all on the cover, whereas alternate versions have been mentioned on the covers with the past Kino releases...
I can watch KIDNAPPED but the new scenes that are tacked on stick out like a sore thumb and kill the pacing and tension. I hope that I'm wrong and both versions are on there. Also, I hope that the 'crying woman' intro (as seen on the Lucertola Media DVD release) is put back in place, rather than the 'grindhouse cinema' credits sequence that was on the Anchor Bay DVD release. |

This is why I have not pre-ordered it, because it looks like it's a movie only edition without the Rabid dogs version. Same with Black Sabbath movie only. I'm thinking down the road a special edition is coming with the other version and extras from the DVD. |
