Default Is there any future for 3D projectors?

As simple question.

As 3D TV's seem to have evaporated with little warning, is there any future for 3D projectors?

I have an Optima 3D projector and I love it, and even though I was expecting the and the end of 3D as a mainstream medium for some time, I was also expecting it to be a standard feature on TV's and Projectors for the future, whilst 4K would obviously take priority.

But 3D seems to have been abandoned and as someone with a large collection of 3D discs, this has come as great disappointment. I don't mind so much as long as there is some sort of future, limited or not but as it stands right now, are we stuck with having to buy second hand and old TV's and Projectors until the next 3D boom or is there hope?

Does anybody know anything which I don't?

Thanks

I am looking into a Optima 3D projector or maybe spending more to get a jvc if my oled goes out on me so i can keep watching my 3d movies. Its hard to say if the projector companies will keep making them but the next year or so will tell what they will do.

I think because 3D has been an across-the-board standard feature on projectors, and because it looks so good on projectors, I would be shocked if it was dropped. I don't think they would be including it on $450 entry level models if it was any kind of hassle for them. Unlike with TVs, where 3D has never really been standard and has been diminishing for years, people assume and expect that a projector will have 3D. It would be like removing color.

I think for projectors 3D will stay around for longer than for TVs at least.

A projector is a niche product for enthusiasts who are also more likely to be into the niche format of 3D.

Due to its more immersive qualities, 3D is better suited to a projector than to a smaller TV screen.

4K projectors are still unaffordable to most and until they are affordable, 3D is still an essential extra Feature.

Doesn't Optima have a genuine 4k projector, with 3D, coming out soon for less than $3000?

I just hope that by the time 4K projectors have decent HDR and are affordable, they will also still have 3D...

Well hopefully the projector manufacturers will see 3D as a selling point, and not ditch it.

But things are not looking good, as the very newly released top of the range THX certified 4k BenQ W11000 doesn't do 3D.

I don't ever to expect to see 4K 3D being made available to the consumer.

The added expense for 3D movie tickets has made the attendence figures for 3D movies at the box office slump considerably over the last 2 years, to such an extent that we are already seeing movies such as Alien Covenant that were slated to be shot in 3D, not being so [not sure how much of the R rating of this movie effected this decision ], but it makes you wonder just how many more 3D movies will be made over the next few years.

I'm a avid 3D movie fan, and have over 100 3D discs, so this dropping of 3D for home playback is appalling to me.

Seriously they need to make more affordable models of those.

Are 3D projectors all active? Is it possible for a projector to use passive 3D?

Yes. But it is expensive and using the two projector method, a pain in the butt to set up.
