I've watched 3 blus on my S590 and all three are in full screen mode (no black bars/letterbox). These are Raid Redemption, Big Lebowski, and Midnight in Paris. The player settings are all default. Is there a change I need to make on my BD player or the TV? Television shows are in letterbox format (with bars). Thanks for any help you can give.

check the back of the case for each movie and look at the aspect ratio the film is presented in. 16:9 will fill your entire screen. Wider aspects will be letterboxed.

Most widescreen TV is 16:9

Thank you for the information! Midnight in Paris and Lebowski are 1.85:1 and Raid is 1.78:1. The Raid is 16:9, and the other two are pretty close so I guess this is why it becomes full screen. Really wish they had black bars, though. Makes it feel less cinematic without them.

I think it's really funny how the three I choose are ~1.78:1, when the majority of BDs are 2.40:1. What are the odds?!

double check your TV settings and Blu-player settings. With most modern TVs, you should be able to get 1:1 scaling on your image, so even slightly wider aspects will have thin bars.

It seems like most BDs I watch are 1.85:1. If not most then easily 50% of them.

Default The Hobbit 3D

Anyone played The Hobbit in 3D and experience quite a vibration coming from the machine?
Occurs at the beginning of the 1st disc and then gradually subsides.
2D works fine.
