Don't they put out press releases for things like this anymore? It sucks to have to play Sherlock Holmes just to find out when a friggin' blu-ray is going to be released!

P.S. - Clearly, I'm in the "love the movie" camp.
Best Buy does have it listed for pre-order for August 6th.

Better Criterion than Twilight Time in my view. At least you have some sort of access to Criterion titles and the fact that they go on sale unlike TT titles which are limited and cost the price of two Criterion titles when Barnes and Noble has them on sale is sadly isn't worth it.

ISHTAR

Oscar Winners Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman Star in the Legendary Comedy Available on Blu-ray For the First Time August 6th

Academy Award winners Warren Beatty (Best Director, Reds, 1981) and Dustin Hoffman (Best Actor, Kramer vs. Kramer, 1979; Rain Man, 1988) star in writer/director Elaine May’s Director’s Cut of the legendary comedy ISHTAR, debuting for the first time on Blu-ray August 6th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Two terrible lounge singers get booked to play a gig in a Moroccan hotel but somehow become pawns in an international power play between the CIA, the Emir of Ishtar, and the rebels trying to overthrow his regime. The film also stars two-time Oscar® nominee Isabelle Adjani (Best Actress, The Story of Adele H, 1975; Camille Claudel, 1988), Charles Grodin (Rosemary's Baby, The Heartbreak Kid), Jack Weston (Wait Until Dark, Cactus Flower), Oscar nominee Tess Harper (Best Supporting Actress, Crimes of the Heart, 1986) and Oscar nominee Carol Kane (Best Actress, Hester Street, 1975).

So, Sony actually decides to release a catalog title, and it's Ishtar? Is Sony just trolling the HT community at this point?

Of course it's the first time on Blu-Ray. That's what "debut" means! Who wrote that press release?

Since they pulled the release a few years back for whatever reason, I suspect it is more along the lines of "lets dump this crappy movie we replicated and have been paying to store in a warehouse."

I'm telling you. I bet that, by contract, any TT title has to have an isolated score and there isn't one available for Ishtar. So any films where the score tracks can't be located or can't be released, Sony will release.

Again, it's just a theory but it makes sense.
Best film of 2013: 42
Most over-rated film of 2013: Place Beyond The Pines.
