Im sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum to ask this question but my back-up power supply for my front projector got fried last night during a thunderstorm,it was a big bulky unit which I had mounted on the ceiling,do they make one small that just plugs into my ceiling outlet with only one input for projector, the reason I got this was for power failures where the ups could keep projector on long enough to turn it off correctly.thanks

Sorry to hear about your issue. You might want to start out by including information about your projector, model and brand as well as the power supply you had for it.
This will help users give you better recommendations right off the bat. Also you used the term "back up power supply", are you referring to a UPS?

Yes the one thats used for computers (ups) I have a Panasonic pt-ae4000u.The one I had was way to big as far as watts go 800,but it was the only one i could find,it had 8 outlets & was heavy & hard to mount on the ceiling.I took it apart thinking that it needed new batteries but the electronics inside was fried.Do most people use a ups on there projector?Like i said I got one because of power outages & didnt want the bulb on projector to get damaged from the on-off of power flickering. The brand was aps, also I just need one for about 165-170 watts if i remember correctly is what the Pany uses.

Yeah using a UPS with your projector is definitely a smart idea; one that I have been mulling over myself. I know a projector lamp is usually just under 300 watts, I'm sure the other electronics create an additional load, and so I'm unsure what the overall current draw would be. Most PC type UPS will get the job done but all wil still have considerable weight. I know most pros keep the UPS in the equipment rack and then send the power and the HDMI through receptacles like this:

I changed my mind & got a ups unit rated at 360 watts which my Pany 4000 uses 240 so it should be ok, just enough time to let the fan run in a power failure to cool off the projector.Apc is the brand i got & it says that it charges even when you shut off the ups,do any of you turn your ups off or do you leave it on? This could all be solved if projector companies would put a cap. or battery to run the fan, maybe some companies make projectors with this I dont know.thanks
