Well, everything you buy in a store was also shipped in from overseas. As long as it's a registered insured shipment you should be okay (and maybe get it held at the courier depot to collect it yourself).

Got a couple of studio monitors I want to get.
Sourced from Europe saves me about a grand.

Gut says go for it. Head says...what about the risks. Hmmm
would there be issues with different voltage/needing plug adaptors? Someone I knew once imported a PC monitor from South Korea, and from memory he needed an adaptor before he could plug it in.

The voltage is almost identical - 220v for Europe, 230v for Australia - but the plug is different so yeah, you'd need a converter. They're pretty easily obtained though.

Also, grounded plugs in Europe are officially the happiest looking ones in the world, just look at this little dude

aww that's cute lol

I've never tried importing tech myself. So I don't know anything about plugs, converters etc. It's good if they're easy to get sorted, though. No doubt my region-free Blu-ray player will expire one day. May end up having to bring a new one in from overseas.

Noel Leeming and most AA outlets have a good selection of converters. It's definitely easy, just get the converter for the country the appliance is from and plug and go

Nah power cords for the speakers are independent,
so I can source replacements from Jaycar.
Also have to split order to avoid GST.
I guess my main worry is warranty issues,
but I guess that's the chance we take.

Which does remind me I've got some music gear I've got to send back to Poland to get fixed and they won't cover shipping to them.
I think the Aust. Post calculator estimate is $170.

I got my vr headset from amazon, I guess it depends on the seller more then anything. Just check into the warranty situation and if that is good to go and your happy with the likely large postage cost you'll have to cover if you need to return them.

Regarding speakers have you checked out Krix speakers, made in Australia and really damn good speakers.
Display: Panasonic 65vt60 with a darbee darblet, Benq w7000.
Audio: Benchmark Dac1 ->DNA Sonett -> Sennheiser HD800 (balanced).

Yeah I looked in Krix when I was going to setup the plasma in the lounge room.
Really nice speakers I ended up finding some old hi-fi speakers and used them instead. I assume the spare cash was used on blus lol

I'm after studio monitors. Generally speaking they have a flat response
across the frequency range. Where as the Krix and others are more built for pleasure. I'm after the warts and all speakers. For my own music but I'd like to revisit some of my favourite albums. Maybe some film scores too.

If I update the lounge room I'd def revisit Krix.

Should be able to. Looking at the manual the power adapter is a simple DC plug. So long as you get one that can handle the voltage, you should be good to go.

wut?!

Can't be for the movie, surely. It's supposed to be a G. They've got the duration listed at 228 minutes. Must be for the special features?

Guessing somebody swears a bit in the commentary or something.. similar scenario to the recent King Arthur getting an MA15 for the BD.
