Present on the VHS as well, but it's something you don't see in the properly framed version.

Not weird at all. This movie was shot open matted using the whole 35mm frame, then when shown in the theater it's matted at the top and bottom to make the 1.85:1 framing. With this matting, the black underwear stated above will not be seen. When the film was transfered for the VHS the whole 35mm frame in used which was the same framing as the old TV's, so then you will see more info on the top and bottom. Here is a cool page about matting, http://www.widescreen.org/widescreen_matte.shtml |

I always liked this movie for years and i remembered when i was 5 when i rented this on video, i thought it was creepy. I had this on a blank tape with other stuff on it i recorded from a second VCR my family had when i was a 90s teen and over the last decade i yearned for a DVD release yet Scream finally announced it as i threw that tape away.
Decent picture no doubt but better than the bootleg DVDs fans held on for years and the extras are very good along with the decent audio. Ernest Borgnine did a great performance in this movie as Isaiah and Michael Barryman as the mentally challenged/deformed Hittite, Sharon Stone was sexy in this one. Are Hittites like related to the Amish/Hutterites or are they just counterfit Amish? |
