These union rules might not apply to independent films, such as those from Korine. Korine isn't exactly a major studio guy.

If there weren't union regulations for tobacco use the entire cast of Mad Men would be dead by now.

I really have no idea what they used to imitate the smoke in this film but I wouldn't be surprised if they used the real thing.

The best part was Jeff Jarrett's cameo. That's J-E-Double F. J-A Double R E Double T. Ain't he great?

I just got around to seeing this movie now, I am shocked by how crappy the dialogue is. The amount of times "ya'll" was used, and "spring break forever" repeated over and over.

The plot (or lack there of) was bad enough... but the dialogue
The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001.
Films I'd like to see on Blu-Ray Disc:
Scarface (1932)
ABC Weekend Specials (19771995) [TV Movies]

Wait, I'm accidentally watching this right now as I scroll through the channels. What year is this movie supposed to take place? I don't yet see any smart phones. Hell, I haven't seen any mobile phones in the twenty five minutes it was on.

Anyone know

They're 4 trashy teen girls and 1 creepy man child. You expect them to have Oscar worthy dialogue?

I bought this day 1 and it couldn't hold my interests. I want to give it a second chance, but I don't know if it's worth the time, might as well toss it

I quite enjoyed this film but I can understand some of the complaints. It gets even better with repeat viewings for me.

I heard from Harmony Korine that one of his inspirations for this film was the films by Gaspar Noe, I might be biased because I'm not a fan of his but to me this movie instead reminded me more of Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, anyone else feel that way?

That doesn't mean that they couldn't at least try to put in effort at polishing up the dialogue.

It's satire.

Watching it opening day in a half-full theatre was fascinating. It became clear very quickly that many people had no idea what they were in for. The silent reactions were deafening. Several walkouts.

I just always hate when people always condescendingly respond with "what did you expect?" "This isn't an Oscar winner" to try and excuse criticism for other movies in general.

Don't you think this movie would make less sense if Alien was speaking Shakespearean lines?

The dialog as is fits the point of the movie perfectly. Polish not included.

Really. Just take the condescension as a chance to improve.

No one could rightfully claim the dialogue in SPRING BREAKERS wasn't a stylistic choice from the filmmakers and deliberately intentional. Making comments that they took issue with it, ignoring the intent of the film, requires a lack of self awareness and any sort of critical engagement. Take the criticism. Make yourself better next time.

If you think this movie is stupid because the characters sound stupid when they talk, you might be missing the point. It's dialect, no different from what Mark Twain did with Huck Finn.

"Sum kids... sum lil' kids, dey wan' grow up to be president. Sum kids wan' grow up and be doctor, y'know? I just wanted to be bad."
