I would say that english is what was most "intended" since these were made deliberately to be exported in english since the italian market was so small in comparison.

I watched demons right after I received it and never posted about it. It's...pretty terrible. The first half is pretty good and has a lot of great visuals, but then it starts rehashing itself, and then it goes totally off the rails with
[Show spoiler]the move into outside of the theater, where apparently some kind of postapocalyptic society has managed to form in the two hours since the demons started spreading in the theater.

The disc LOOKS incredible, it really shows off the crazy lighting and use of color. It's like a hacky Mario Bava/Dario Argento clone! Which I guess is just how people usually describe Lamberto. :P

My favorite thing about the movie was seeing the girl from Deep Red/What Have You Done to Solange/Who Saw Her Die/Night Child/Footprints on the Moon 10 years later. I thought I recognized that usher at first, and then was like IS THAT THE UBIQUITOUS CHILD STAR ALL GROWN UP?! and then confirmed it when I looked up the movie! Good times. She ended up being much more attractive than I'd have guessed, in a very bratty looking way.

I'm talking about the three levels of expensive in editions of that movie. Mondo had a really expensive version with an extra disc and some artwork or a fairly expensive one that I bought which I'd say was the "mid-tier" option which I think was like 45 bucks. Maybe I'm wrong and there wasn't a cheaper version, but I was thinking they had a NON-SPECIAL version or something too.

It's been a few weeks since I watched my Blu-ray of Demons, and I've been reminded of how much I used to like Motley Crue's "Save Our Souls."

Since my old cassette tape of Motley Crue's Theatre of Pain from my teenage years is long extinct, I picked up the CD at Best Buy earlier today.

Man, these Blu-rays can be expensive in more ways that one.

Even with the high price point I'm astonished these things are still around (well, the first one at least.)

The entire Demons soundtrack (both the songs selected AND the stuff Claudio Simonetti composed for it) is downright awesome top and bottom. I've actually made myself a CD-R containing all of the songs used in it and Claudio Simonetti's compositions. A really fun listen.

Too bad Demons 2 hocked that out for less interesting new wave/goth rock, which is actually pretty good in itself, but lacks the sheer awesomeness of the first film. Same goes for the movie itself, since Demons 2 is both less cool and, surprisingly, more mean spirited than its predecessor.

I am glad to own the steelbooks of both films, however, and I eagerly await my Tenebrae steelbook from Synapse to arrive in my mail box...once it ships out.

Yeah I am as well. These aren't perfect films by any means, but they're at least as good as everything that sold out in a day from Twilight Time. I can't help but wonder if exposure was initially part of the problem. (Never mind the fact that the cheaper editions undoubtedly impacted sales as well).

I already owned the standard blu releases for Demons 1 and 2 but I didn't know the steelbooks came with exclusive features (shame on me). So I bit the bullet and ordered the steelbooks (less interested in a steel for 2, but you really can't have one without the other).

Haven't gotten a chance to open them yet (they are a birthday gift) but through the bubble wrap I could tell they are very shiny and gorgeous, the product page picture does not do it justice.

Can't wait for Phenomena and Suspiria!!!

I've said this before, but I enjoyed the extras on Demons 2 (especially the interview with Simon Boswell) more than the ones on Demons.

Watched my copy of Demons last night. Does anyone know
[Show spoiler]why George doesn't get infected? Didn't he get scratched while he was on the motorbike? Or is that already overthinking this movie?

I think that was a deliberate ruse to make the audience THINK he would "change" at the end, but *surprise!*surprise!*
[Show spoiler]the girl changes instead. They do the same thing with Fiore Argento and her boyfriend- they make a big point the he's been scratched, yet she's the one who changes into a demon when they're in the air ducts.

I've just watched the Synapse versions of Demons 1 & 2 and I also have the Japanese Eclipse/Kadokawa blu rays. Has anyone else compared these? I find that I like both... the Synapse has more vivid colors and is more contrasty, and overall looks more like a professional "movie", but the Japan versions have a mellow, brighter, revealing quality that I like as well. I know that Synapse used the same master (I think?) as the Japan version and added their own color correction. Does this mean that the Japan version is closer to what the original master looks like? Also, why are the Japan blus brighter... is the gamma different?

And, are there any other overall differences (gamma, color) between the Japan versions and the UK Arrow versions, other than better compression and encoding on the Japanese blus?

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has compared all these.

I've previously owned the Arrow set and only currently own Synapse's set. With that being said, the Synapse discs are the closest representation to how the films were presented in theaters thirty years ago.
