Default Bruno Review Thread

Please only vote in the poll if you've seen the movie.

This is a public poll so we can see who we agree with.

I thought we'd do the review thread a little differently. After you've seen the movie, vote in the poll. Blu-ray.com members that haven't seen the film can get a general star rating from the members that have seen it.

Also, please be courteous and use spoiler tags until the Monday following release (if you need to learn how to do spoiler tags, there's a sticky at the top of this forum).

So BRUNO comes out tomorrow. Post your reviews here!

If you vote, please explain your reasons. Thanks!

I was thinking it might be a good idea to make this a public poll, since then we can search for people whose opinions are closer to our own (and whose opinions would most likely weigh more heavily).

I submitted the thread and forgot to hit the public poll button. It can't be changed after the fact so I'm going to repost and ask for this one to be closed. Both the Public Enemies and Ice Age 3 were public polls so you could see who voted what. I think we should keep it that way.

Loved it, saw it today at a "sneak" preview, by that I mean my buddy manages the Regal at the mall and a few of us got to watch it.

I loved Borat but this takes it to another level. Watching the people's faces as they are jerked around is priceless, the fact that they really thik he's this Bruno guy make sit so much funnier.

However, it is more of the same so if you didn't like Borat you won't like this.

Sacha got his own mindset on what comedy is. some might find it appealing others won't.

I will give it a shot.

(hopefully) watching today as long as everything runs smooth, which it hasn't recently, (dog caught my little finger and lifted the nail bed straight off) I need a good cheering up.

Going to see this at 9:30 tonight, I have a feeling that I won't be disappointed.

I see a few one star ratings, back up your votes with some comments folks.

Saw it at midnight, and wasn't that impressed. Although it had some funny moments the best parts they ruined by putting on the previews.

Saw it last night. Was really funny and I would recommend to people who enjoyed Borat. Both my wife and I laughed our asses off for most the movie.

I did like Borat better, Bruno had more parts that seemed really staged where I found Borat did have some things staged but other things looked like it was happening for real. Some of the situations in Bruno are just so over the top you knew he is really dealing with actors instead of unsuspecting people. If you have seen it or are seeing it you will notice this when he is trying to find baby models to take pictures of.

And if you were offended by the big blue dong in The Watchmen I wouldn't suggest seeing this.

Over all I liked it, but I am not easily offended.

3 Stars from me.

FRIDAY AM: Sacha Baron Cohen has done it again. Based on $1.6 million in post-midnight shows in nearly 700 theaters this morning, and pre-sales for its weekend release into 2,757 North American theaters, Brüno looks like a big hit for Universal. "If it holds up, we'll do $50 million," one insider tells me. "Yet this is a movie that people may or may not attend spontaneously." That's double the $25M to $27M which Universal and even rival studios have been predicting for the mockumentary's weekend debut. Others tell me that $30+M still seems way more realistic.

I wasn't really into Borat so didn't know what to expect with Bruno. It was mostly the same concept to me, so if you liked Borat, you may like Bruno. The movie just felt very predictable to me, but there were some pretty funny parts.

2 stars.

I liked it but I wasn't as good as Borat. While the movie for the most part was very funny, some stuff crossed the line from comedy to offensive. Still, the end song was brilliant and there was enough laughs in it that kept entertained.

Score: 7 / 10 (translate in the poll scoring, I guess I'd go 3)

I gave it a 4. I haven't laughed that hard in a theater ever. It was great. Harrison ford cracked me up.

laughed hysterically throughout the entire movie.

whoever said the best parts were ruined in the trailers? not even close, there are plenty more laughs, and found the scenes NOT in the trailers were the most funny.

4 stars, loved it
