Yeah, like I said, if retailers have a good sale on these, I'll bite. I admit, I was also hesitant because I have the DVDs already, but the tvshowsondvd.com reviewer made an excellent point when he said, "Fans should look at this set as a great addition to their collection, as opposed to replacing what they already have." I strongly agree with that. It's a shame many people here didn't think that way. Many people here who bought the BDs sold their DVDs and made lame excuses that they're running out of shelf space.

Yeah, but having the BD, when are people going to watch the extended edition? Will you go through a whole set in SD knowing that most of the material you could watch in much better quality? When are you going to back to that SD set?
All right, look if you absolutely have to tell her the truth, at least wait until the timing's right. And that's what deathbeds are for.

Who said anything about watching the "whole" set? Some episodes here and there have some funny extended scenes. So, IMHO, the DVDs are still worth keeping. Occasionally, there may be a few episodes you may want to rewatch on DVD to see those extended bits. And also, the DVDs are good for traveling too since most of us don't have a portable Blu-ray player yet and probably will never get one.

I'm definitely getting the first two seasons since I've never seen the Extended episodes for those. Not sure if I'll continue buying any further seasons though. I keep going back & forth with the decision. I guess spending $21.99 here and there on half-assed sets is better than blowing $150+ at once.

I don't understand why Amazon and Best Buy refuse to knock these down to $20.

Best Buy has upgrade & save going on so you can get it $5 cheaper.

Yeah, $16.99 sounds pretty good for release-day

Probably a case with slipbox. The only show with a digipak and slipbox I'm aware of from WB is Falling Skies.

Yes, but it's not $16.99 if you don't Upgrade & Save. Most BDs are 30% off during release week.

I thought so too. Would have liked a digipack. I always liked Friends so I'll be picking it up.

Both says they're Slipcase - Double BD Case on WB's site. I don't mind them but I prefer cases. I'm not sure why they chose a digipak for Falling Skies when all the other shows were in cases and continued to be. The second season is in a case now too.

It probably won't happen. At least not anytime soon. WB claims that the extended footage doesn't exist in HD, which I believe is total BS. I'm guessing that when they edited the extended episodes for DVD, they edited them at a lower quality, so to put them on Blu-Ray, they would have to completely re-edit them again. It's a shame, but I can understand them feeling like it wouldn't be worth the time/money.

Soooo..... any word on Seasons 3 and 4? Does WB plan to continue releasing the seasons individually?

That is correct; hence, the muddy picture quality on the DVDs. So, WB's reason for not including the extended episodes is due to one of two reasons:

1) They edited the extended episodes on video and then tossed the film stock in the trash.

OR

2) Like you said, they didn't think it was worth the time and money to re-edit the extended episodes.
