The three disc Director's Cut I have is from Germany, and was released by ArtHaus.

Love it! My favorite Wenders movie.

I have bought it by release and had no problems with the Disc yet.

I hope "Until the End of the World" (Director's Cut) and "Don't Come Knocking" will be released on Blu-Ray soon.
I'm highly anticipating Until the End of the World on BD. The Director's Cut would be fantastic! It has one of the very best soundtracks ever put to film.

I desperately want the director's cut of Until the End of the World to get a Blu-ray release. I'm a big Wenders fan and I've always wanted to see it. I'm hoping Criterion announces it one day.

As for Wings of Desire, it's one of my favorites - though it's not my favorite Wenders.

With that said, Paris, TX and Wings of Desire while directed by the same person, have completely different feels. WoD is much more "poetic".
Because it was on sale so I took advantage of it.

Watched the movie for the first time but I need to know two things:

[Show spoiler]1) How did Damiel changed himself to human? Does Angels shown in this movie have powers to do so? I mean I dont understand that.

2) Also about the end scene when Marion saw Damiel for the first time at the bar it was like she already knew him and start talking with him as he is not a stranger to him? I mean I dont understand the end scene? Obviously she was unaware that Damiel was an ex angel and she never saw him before so what exactly was the point at the end scene!

The above things I didnt understand so Please explain?
Thanks!

Does the picture quality of this release still hold up nicely, or should I wait for a remaster?

The screenshots on here don't look very impressive.

Watched this for the first time a week ago on Hulu.

Very interesting film.

It's only in retrospect that I can understand just how badly the Nic Cage/Meg Ryan remake SUCKED.

...god they butchered that film.

It looks fine in motion. Not superb, but i'd say it is worth owning. We've been waiting for the restoration to be released on blu-ray for some time now and there still isn't any word that it is forthcoming.

am sorely tempted by that ltd ed, but wonder what the chances are of english subs, that they have just forgotten to list?

have gambled successfully before on discs from Germany that had english subtitles which were unlisted...

For those interested in Until the End of the World for the U.S. -- Janus/Criterion still has it, but figuring out music rights for a home release has apparently been...complicated. I saw the restoration of it on the big screen, and myself have always been interested in a HD/BD. Hope it happens.

I have the new Blu-ray (the regular edition not the Collector's set).
It has no English subs.

know. went ahead and ordered anyway and it arrived yesterday. Oh well.

Beautiful package though. But essentially shiny coasters for me.

think the WW restoration lecture is in English though.

Can't see this 4K version coming out anywhere else though. Criterion was only out less than 10 years ago, so...
