Quick question...

What would be a good set of bipoles for side surrounds? I don't want to use the (pioneer) bookshelves in a 5.1 so I need another option. Obviously something that can match up well with the FSF2 and C22 and stay under $500?

Keeping in mind that you want to keep the price in line with the intended nature of the Andrew Jones set, I can only recommend these,

http://www.fluance.com/product/AVBP2...rs.eng-79.html

Ive never heard them, but I do see favourable reviews for them....What makes sense is that they use 4" drivers and a 1" tweeter like the Pioneer bookshelves.

The price point is in line with the Pioneer bookshelves. The sensitivity is also close at 88db also.

The material used seems to match the Pioneers (I mean the black wrap around the house :P ). However, the crossovers are different etc.

Id give them a try....

Default fluance bipolar surrounds with AJ's...

I use a set of the bipoles and they are fantastic! They throw a huge surrounding effect. I'm using 2 C22's as mains vertically placed on 16" stands no center. The C22's are crazy awesome sounding used in a vertical MTM setup with phantom center. I also changed out the tweets for a set of Dayton Titaniums that in itself transformed and woke up the high end. The Fluance blend well with the AJ's and you can't beat the price for what you get. Worth triple the cost!

HHGregg has these majorly discounted so I went nuts and bought everything. I ended up buying two subs for 80 bucks each. Two towers for 70 bucks each. A center channel for 50. Then I picked up 4 bookshelf speakers for 30 bucks each.

Crazy they are selling the bookshelf speakers by themselves in pairs. Kinda deceptive if you ask me. Still a great price for the pair.

Hi, I have a question about the floorstanders and the center channel of the Andrew Jones Pionner Speakers. The Polk Audio floorstanders in my signature have gotten cosmetically damaged and I would like to replace them and the center channel, but i don't want to spend alot of money and I'm wondering if the latest versions of these are comparable to the Polks, or are the Pioneer speakers not as good?

Yeah, I thought it was stupid as well. I mean, the things are in the same box. Just say you're selling a pair for 60ish bucks, not this whole 29.95 per speaker thing.

From what I have read the Pioneer speakers are better than the Polks in build and sound quality.

I've not personally heard the Polks, but the Pioneers are an incredible value and I love mine. These Pioneer speakers are stupid cheap on Newegg almost all the time and although they are a bit bulky, it's definitely worth it for getting nearly full-size speakers for satellite speaker prices.

Sounds good, I'll probably go with the Pioneer speakers then.

If Mr. Jones skills are anywhere near what they were when he designed this series of speakers for Infinity over 15 years ago then the Pioneer line must be very good.
Panasonic PT-AX100U, Draper Cineperm 92", Onkyo TX-SR702, Sony BDP-S570, Dish VIP622, Infinity Interludes (LCR), DefTech PF1500, Behringer BFD, Technics SL-1300.

I can compare the regular floorstanding Fluance speakers vs the Pioneer floorstanding since I've owned both. Very similar build quality but the Pioneer's are taller. Sound is very close to the same. Only difference is I've found is the Fluance speakers don't seem to last long before their blown. I only push them near the limits with Bluray and most of the rest of the time it's just regular tv viewing. So I was suprised when both floorstanding speakers blew within a year. They are located in Canada making it very hard/expensive to ship to replace them under warranty

But I am still using a pair of Fluance bookshelf speakers on the wall as my side surround speakers and they are great for that. As for floorstanding speakers the Pioneers are good and seem more durable and hopefully they will last much longer. I've had 3 of them for several months now blending well as my FL, FR, and Center speakers with no problems
