Do any among you know what 'format' the 3-D content is/was for this particular release?

cheers.
The VHD 3D format I think only gave you 230 lines per eye. Pretty bad. I have the Sensio DVD which is side-by-side. The 3D is pretty cool with the opening titles zooming out of the screen!

For Jaws 3D fans, I just found 2 videos on YouTube covering the first European screening of the film in Digital 3D, that took place in France on February 27th 2015.

The videos include footage of the Jaws 3D expo with lots of memorabilia, a video message from Carl Gotlieb, interview with Joe Alves etc.

Enjoy!

Jaws is coming back to theaters this month. I would've thought Universal would've released the rest to match. I've only seen it in 2D, but I'd love the 3D BD!

This definitely needs a 3D Blu Ray release. Universal really needs to sort it out.

While they're at it, why don't they right a wrong from five years ago and release Metalstorm: The Destruction of Jared-Syn on Blu-ray 3D? Only two transfers I know of apart from the VHD release are a completely fullscreen transfer made for VHS, Betamax, and laser videodisc back in the '80s and a transfer with letterboxed credits made for pay cable and eventually released on DVD in 2010 (the aforementioned "wrong").

That's great news if true. Universal already has a DCP of Jaws 3D ready to go, so it's not a problem to master to Blu-Ray 3D.

Hey, if Universal does Jaws 3, maybe some of the other 80s 3D flicks will make it on disc, too.

The cover art does not show Blu-ray 3D.

I have access to the Universal Home Video internal site.

It does list Jaws 3D under "Bonus Material" on the disc coming out on June 14th:

Jaws 3 in 3D
Theatrical Trailer

This is great news indeed!

I'm so happy about this announcement! Jaws 2 for sure, Jaws 3 only if confirmed in real 3D, not just anaglyphic and Jaws 4... well not sure about that one. Good to watch drunk I guess!

This is very likely Universal's swan song for 3D, outside of maybe Warcraft, depending on how it performs theatrically.

I wouldn't hold my breath for other 80s 3D flicks unless they're licensed to a third party like Twilight Time or Shout.

And yet there seems to be a good amount of excitement for the 3D version. Every time I hear somebody say 3D is dead I think of this quote by Mark Twain- "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.". Jaws 3D, along with many other classic 3D titles, should have been released many many years ago when 3D blu-ray was young, to drum up interest in the format. Instead, we got nothing for years. It's their own fault 3D wasn't the huge hit they claimed they wanted it to be. Where was the marketing? 3D was left to sell itself as a new format. It was bound to fail.

But that the trick. As much as the 3D enthusiast embraced it, ultimately it's not enough to make up for the borderline consumers that see no value in it. Sure they were all going ho when Avatar came out, but as more and more films kept getting released, it became a cost and convience issue. The cost issue for the home was even more prohibited since the user, in general, had lay out thousands of dollars to take advantage of it. But the time it became cheap (relatively) the average consumer had lost interest. Sure they could have pushed harder, but ultimately, would they have made any headway?

The only reason Jaws 3 is even happening was the brief 3D re-issue fad falsely analyzed when Titanic and Lion King did well. It wasn't the 3D, it was the quality of the film.
