Back to new Bond casting ideas; with a haircut and a clean shave, I think Clive Standen could pull off Bond

5 years ago? Absolutely. He's got the suave down for sure. Anymore I just don't think I'd want him.

I don't think he's too big. He's not starring and opening movies on his own. Yet.

He is definitely bigger now than Craig was when he took over the role.

Now is the time though....

Is he? Craig by the point he played Bond had worked with Sam Mendes, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Angelina Jolie, etc. He was about at the same level as Fassbender is now.

Question: Is 2015 Michael Fassbender more famous than pre-Casino Royale, 2005 Daniel Craig?

Answer: Yes. Considerably more so in my opinion.

btw I strongly doubt that anyone remembered the Daniel Craig name after viewing 2001's Tomb Raider movie.

Plus, he'll probably be too old for the role by the time Craig vacates the tux (especially if he re-ups for more movies after his five-movie contract expires). I think he'd be great in the role right now, but the timing is off.

I love the idea of Dalton as the villain! I hope I'm right. I walked out of a screening of 'Layer Cake' and said that guy has to be the next James Bond. We'll see if I go 2-2.

Absolutely not.

- @Monterey Jack: Yeah that's another issue. In the set photos I've seen (the one in the alps with Lea) Craig is looking every bit of his 46 years. I personally like an older Bond but if Craig does finish out his contract (at 5 films) I think that's plenty. He'd be 50 by then anyways with this insanely prolonged release schedule they're on.

- @Adam ME: He's got the look and he can act and he hasn't blown up to A-lister status. His sexuality is irrelevant.

Actually, I was referring to Fassbender being too old by the time Craig leaves the role...it'll probably be 2018 by the time Craig's fifth movie comes out, and another two-three years after that before we get a new actor in the role, at which point Fassbender will be nearing his mid-40's
