Unboxing Videos (Blu-ray) How Do You Feel?

I watch for box sets ONLY. I wanna see how they are packaged. Are they in amaray cases or digipacks etc etc. I actually just found out about a new Bond 50 digistack box set that I guess is gonna take over the books they have now. I youtube'd it and saw what it is like...OMG is that terrible!!! If I want Bond 50 I better get on it now while the book style is still around. This is the perfect example of why I even look for them. Normal movie releases...why bother? Its in a case with artwork and maybe a slipcover . Not gonna not buy a movie cause of the disc art or no slipcover or what not. Thats ridiculous!

Occasionally I find them useful, like with the Indiana Jones collection where I knew I despised American packaging and wanted to see what the European/UK version looked like. But mainly I just feel sorry for the poor bastards that have nothing better to do with their free time.

Unboxing videos are certainly helpful when deciding to purchase elaborate box sets.

I watch them rarely. Most of the time they are poorly done by 8 year olds, and merely show opening the box and struggling to remove the item. The only one that was interesting was where the guy was unboxing an iPad 2 and found there were 2 iPads in the box by error.

For me, if the videos already have the title already open and is just showing what the movie or set looks like and what is including that isn't in any sales description. Also, they need to be short in length. I don't care for the unboxing part, just what it looks like and what is included in it. I just look at videos for collector sets, box sets, anniversary sets, or something with special packaging.

I like the ones that shows more of the bluray package and whats inside instead of the persons face.

It has for me, I was going to buy the matrix box set but after watching an unboxing and seeing that they were in skinny blue cases, I quickly backed out.

I usually don't watch unboxing vids but I don't understand why anyone would make one for a regular amaray case blu ray. For the box sets, it's cool though.

It stopped me from buying the pizza box style set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Also for Back to the Future set. It convinced me to import the UK version instead of the cheaper but badly packaged US version.


Like most of others, I only watch the unboxing of boxsets. But never watched the entire thing. I usually skip the video to the actual unboxing. Don't care about what is listed in the back or their review of the movie, etc.

I find a lot of unboxing videos unintentionally hilarious (ex. that guy who calls himself 'toy collector'). It's all "blah-blah-blah...this is my best buy haul...today I picked up..blah-blah-blah...this has a really nice slip clover..." Then he shows holds the damn thing up to the camera and then flips it over and he's like, "...and here is the back...you can see the special features..." I can't see s**t!

I watched one unboxing video in a state of bemusement, but it was oddly enjoyable in that "It's nice to know that other people are more obsessive about Blu-rays than I am." sort of way.

Like a few others have mentioned, I only watch them to see how certain releases are packaged, especially those in non-standard cases, or to see if multiple movie collections contain the films on more than one disc. Before I got the Wizards digibook, I watched the unboxing to see how the disc was stored.

They can be good and bad.

The good ones are informative and help hype up something I'm waiting for in the post. Some even surprise me and change my mind about something I had no interest in prior to seeing the video.

I'll watch an unboxing video if I'm sitting at my desk at work on a slow day and there's nobody around. I already have to be careful who I brag about my large collection to - some people give me funny looks when I tell them I own over 1,000 movies, if anyone catches me watching unboxing videos someone will probably have me committed . Seriously though, watching these can be fun, especially if it's someone with a large collection showing in the background. And it can be fun if it's a foreign release or a big elaborate box set like Lawrence of Arabia.

I can understand why someone would watch them for the collectors editions, special packaging, etc...

Myself though? Watching someone unbox/unwrap a movie? Uh...no, that's too far for me. I think I'd have to have myself committed.

I've never watched a unboxing video and don't plan to. What's the point of watching someone open a Blu-ray? I'll watch a video of someone reviewing the actual movie (or pq/aq of the BD) but I don't find a youtube video of someone opening a package entertaining.

Ive always found these videos to be just ridiculous. I mean taping yourself opening a movie??!! Downright absurd.

I feel the same way. Some of them are often 10-20 minutes to open a single movie. I can have a movie open and tell you what's in it in less than 2-3 minutes.
