As much as I hate to do it, I'm going to distinguish between "better" and "favorite."

The Shawshank Redemption, if any kind of objective scale does exist, is the better film, the greater film, and certainly the more influential film. It's also the film I'd be (far) more likely to recommend to someone to watch.

That being said, if I had to watch one of those two right now, it'd be Ghost Rider 2.
