I have some Blu-ray and some of those DVDs and the difference is extremely negligible, even projected. Especially as I watch it subbed so I get the same lossy audio track either way. The five movies I have on Blu-ray have done nothing to compel me to upgrade the other 8 I have on the comparable DVDs.

I'd say wait as Funimation is bound to rerelease the movies again, and probably soon.

If you can't wait though, then go with the BDs as they are superior.

yea, I'll just wait. It would be nice if they released a box set containing all of the films on BD though or a couple of sets instead of just the double/triple feature releases they currently have available.
What, me worry?

Watched Super 25 and 26 today (I had to settle for Kami's fansubs) and good god Toei clearly gave their animators the week off when episode 26 was being animated. Pretty much every other shot looked dreadful. There were a few times when Freeza didn't even have his actual feet and he looked really old. It doesn't help that they are still dragging this out way too much. They really need to hyphenate the name to Drag-On Ball Super.

Just watched Dragon Ball Z Resurrection F In 3d. The 3D is sooo bad. The majority of the movie is not in 3d but a flat image pushed back a little. And when there is 3d, there is less dimension then I have ever seen in a 3d movie. It looked like a guided automatic conversion. Frieza could be way off in the background, Vegeta in the foreground and for some reason the both pop out of the screen the same amount? Making Frieza look like a really tiny person.

So there is an article on ANN that Toriyama has stated he is pretty disappointed with the animation of Super.

Yeah I read that. Toei is an old, established company that's sitting on mountains of cash. I don't understand why they refuse to treat some of their most beloved properties (Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon) with the respect they deserve.

Toei's movies are not that bad, but yeah the TV series has dropped in quality in recent years.

What is this multi-universe thing of which you speak?

On an unrelated note, I'm wondering what's holding up the announcement of DBS or DBZ Kai final chapters from FUNi. Perhaps Toei isn't allowing them to license it?

I'd say it's just not a priority for them. The Boo Kai didn't go down to well (as far as online comments go), and they probably don't have the patience to dub the first two arcs of Super *again*.

As for the multi-universe thing, there are, multiple universes. Sounds like each one has a God of Destruction. Beerus and Champa (pronouced Shampa, as in Champagne)are the first two we have been introduced to, and they are going to put together a team each to fight..

Watched 27 an 28 of Super. Good riddance to the terrible RF retell.

On the other hand, OH MY GOD!! This is what Super should have been all along!!! That was absolutely fantastic. I loved the banter between Beerus and Champa. I really hope that when Funimation releases it they start Volume 3 at episode 28.

Geting some new Spanish language blu-rays.

Again on DVD and for the first time on Blu-ray.
Next March 30st the Dragon Ball Z movies will be released for the first time on Blu-ray.
Such films have been restored in Japan from the original celluloid, and Selecta Visión has acquired this new restoration for the launch for the first time on Blu-ray and again on DVD.
Next week we'll show you the complete covers for the Blu-ray edition that are reversible and for which we used the original posters of the movies.
Good weekend to everyone!

Edit:
Just took a screenshot from the US Blu-ray. Looks as if they may be using the Funiamitons masters and not a Japanese remaster, like the description said. At least for the comparison.

We watched episodes 29-31 of Super and I can not believe they made 75% of episode 30 a freaking clip show. A CLIP SHOW!!!! This is the third episode of the arc and they already spent 10 minutes of it recapping everything that happened in the previous two episodes. WTF Toei?!!!!!! This was utter laziness. Episode 29 was entertaining, especially when Bulma whacked Beerus, but I will admit 31 was awesome. It was so cool getting to see Tights and a few scenes from the Jaco manga in anime form. I really wish they would turn that into an OVA or something. Nevertheless, a clip show that featured 5 minutes of important scenes was extremely frustrating and unacceptable.

It's Goku's and Freiza's battle all over again. (That was pretty much what it was like in the original DBZ).

If they do, I hope they use those Dragonbox masters they said they had.

The crappy picture Z gets (ignoring the level sets) makes me glad I got the Dragonbox sets while they were cheap.

I keep meaning to start watching Super, but I'm guessing it'd be better to start when they have a few new (as in after the films) episodes out. I'm yet to hear people speak positively about it in pretty much any way. Which is pretty depressing really.
