Fully expect this to be a transcending movie for filmmakers like 2001 was.

If he can pull off the vastness and emptiness of space while being restricted to dimensions of of the movie screen, I'll watch it 5-6 times just like I did TDK, Inception, and TDKR.

Guess I'm in the minority here but I don't understand the hype around this. There is nothing in the trailer(s) that says "epic", "mind blowing" or "transcending". What we have been shown is very run of the mill. I trust Nolan in that I've enjoyed all of his movies, especially his non-batman films. I just think I would rather hold off expectations until I see it.

There's probably no director, at least at a similar studio level, whose trailers are as less revealing and intentionally misleading than Nolan's.

Personally I prefer the first teaser the most. The mood and tone of it seems sublime and right up my alley. Plus I love space travel and it seemed to be very reverent towards that part of our history. Then you add in Nolan's pedigree, the actor on the biggest hot streak on the planet, the rest of the cast and I can't help but to be extremely hyped.

Nolan likes smart scifi, that's a fact. SO, I expect it to at least have high ambitions.

Script was pretty good. Although it rips off Avatar and 2001: A Space Odyssey quite a bit. It's the execution that I'm worried about! The teasers have been horrid to say the least.

I read somewhere that most of what we have seen in the teasers is the earth material is like the first 15 minutes of the movie!

Some of the leaked script had some prometheus feel to it at as well....but many said it was a very first draft so a lot probably has changed. I am very excited to see this when it comes out!

This looks to be everything I was hoping Gravity was going to be and failed to be for me.
I love Nolans epic ambitions .

No I didn't. Enjoying his films doesn't mean I think his next one is going to be the event film of the year. I've enjoyed all of Michael Bay's films as well. Again, doesn't mean I'll hype the hell out of his next one.

My observation was more specifically the hype being generated by some in this thread based a few lackluster trailers and bleak info regarding the plot.

This. If Nolan has shown us anything it's that he likes to show us as little as possible. I remember watching the trailers for Inception thinking I had a good idea of what the film was and where it was going. Within the first 2-3 minutes he threw the dream-within-a-dream concept and I was taken aback. That was a huge part of the plot and he decided not to mention it in any of the trailers. I believe these trailers have only shown us the first act or half of the movie. I mean the title of the film is Interstellar and how many shots of space or the crew have we had in these 2 trailers? He's definitely keeping a tight lid on the space part because he wants to wow the audience in the theater.

[Show spoiler]Yes. There's a moon with all sorts of fantastical creatures and plants. Some of which are shape shifting and can combine with other creatures to form new ones. I doubt much of the script was changed. Everything that I see in the teasers and from what I've been hearing is spot on.

If anyone wants to know anything else, just ask.

More like the first 40 minutes. Tons of useless exposition and pondering as per Nolan usual. But the script does get very interesting once actual bigger ideas are explored.

It's a thread about a Nolan movie. I would be almost disappointed if he hadn't!

Earth has all of its natural resources used up and a band of travelers must go find resources or a new planet to inhabit. Sounds complete fresh and not like something that has been done to death. Oh well, I guess after making a three hour film about a woman with daddy issues anything is a step up.
George Lucas didn't rape anyone's childhood but he did ruin Star Wars.
