I think Spielberg's work in the film is exceptionally strong, which is saying something. People who say he can't make movies like he did in the 80's should really check this out, because the trademark choreography and staging ambition of films like Raiders and Temple of Doom are all here, in spades. It is a young adult movie, directed by a master -- it's like watching a Hardy Boys movie directed by Michael Curtiz and Orson Welles.

It's so much fun -- the first act is a bit quiet, a slow build orienting you as to the look of the film and the characters. Once TinTin and Haddock meet, it's a full-throttle romp.

Just received the 3-D version on Blu today. Will be checking it out this week. A great family film, a smash around the world, but audiences ignored it in the U.S., unfairly. Check it out.

Felt the exact same way when I watched it in theatres. When watching it again on blu, I expected it that time therefore enjoyed it a tinsy bit better than the first time. Either way, I too had trouble keeping myself awake. It literally put my kids to sleep while it nearly knocked me out.

Anyway for Canadians, it's $15.00 at Wal-Mart for the 3D combo pack. Kinda bites me since I payed $22 on release day for the 2D blu-ray. And the cover looks grand.
