Quick question for you guys since i plan on buying this if my lg player crapped out. FOr those with av receivers, do you let the Oppo do the decoding or the receiver for better sound
? Just curious cuz i have it set to pass thru on my lg, the ps3 does it automatically if i play blurays (which i only use it for gaming anyways). Which is better or is there no difference at all?

Can sound quality change so much between 2 sources???? Please help me out.
Should I be getting Oppo ??? I enjoy the ease of finding a good quality 320kbps MP3 or a FLAC file, drop it on my USB and stick it into my Samsung BD-ES6000 bluray ($150). Only problem is that it sounds wayyy worse than regular CD (same file size as FLAC) but that plays on my Sony C222ES ($500 back in a day player). I don't want to sit a burn CDs all day !!! :-) Question .... is it because Sony has better guts that make music sound better? Better connection (Sony uses Analog cables, my blu-ray uses HDMI)? How do I make my USB stored FLAC/MP3 sound better? Will upgrading to a better Blu-Ray player help??? |

With analog out you are skipping all the decoding/room correction processing your AVR would perform. With a typical modern AVR you should hear no decreased audio quality typically using HDMI (bitstream/LPCM) over using analog only. You start talking high end then it gets into a audio tonal/quality argument concerning analog vs digital with audiophiles. Last edited by JohnAV; 05-13-2013 at 09:46 PM. |

The Oppo BDP-95 has now been retired from Oppo Digital front page. Customers wishing to check on Firmware Updates, for example, will now need to go to the Customer Service > Product Support tab where all the older OPPO players are located.
New Oppo Digital now has a knowledge base page with all the models represented. If you click on your model, a list of troubleshooting procedures for common issues is displayed. Last edited by JohnAV; 05-20-2013 at 07:47 PM. |
