I ordered the US edition and have received 3 replacements now and they are all damaged and all scratched discs on numerous of the titles. Is the UK set any better? This is getting ridiculous.

Did the one that you got come undamaged? The region free one? I think I may just go with that

Are you sure they're scratches and not just glue scuffs? My Hitchcock set had marks on a number of the discs, but I was able to buff them off with a t-shirt, they were just glue from the sleeves/pages of the digibook.

Not just that but the box itself was damaged badly

Ah, could be because the set is older and the boxes have been bumping around in a warehouse for a while. I got the Criterion Antoine Doinel boxset as a gift last year, and it's a few years old. The copy Amazon sent me looked like a truck ran over it. I sent it back for a replacement, and the second one was just as bad.

I there any talk of restorations on any of these titles, such as The Birds?

Given that THE BIRDS features a huuuuuuuge number of elaborate optical effects, I'm not sure how much they can do in the way of restoring it. Much of the dirt and such may be inherent in the negative. The non-effects parts of the film actually look great on the BD.

I thought the grain in some of the non-effects scenes (particularly the earlier scenes) had a weird clumpy appearance (it improved as the film progressed to the point that I no longer noticed it). Particularly noticeable in several shots of Tipi Hedren's face (when looking at her forehead). It always looks like some weird video compression/distortion to me when I see that, but apparently is is just really CLUMPY grain?

I'll have to check those scenes out again. You mean the pet store stuff at the beginning?

Considering this. The only Hitchcock movie I have is Psycho.

(I hate the disc sleeve packaging though, guaranteed scratches.)
Interstellar Digital Copy FULL CODE (UV/iTunes/Google Play): $3 PM Me :)

If anyone has any Interstellar IMAX cells of the ship(s), docking sequence, Tesseract sequence or planets, I am buying. PM pics & price.

I just grabbed Nissen's custom covers and printed out the large majority of them. I'm just gonna buy this instead of attempting to get the singles since the singles which don't have the Ultraviolet use a generic black disc label art instead of the full color from the set.
The singles I do already own I'll just sell them in the original Universal coverart and move the discs from the Masterpiece Collection to the Nissen covers already in the Blu-ray cases.
Though I already own North by Northwest, possibly going to buy the Psycho release from the UK since the mono track is lossless or wait for the Anniversary remaster (think there is one announced?), and just do what I mentioned above for the titles I already own from the set. Done and done.

EDIT: I'm most likely going to be ordering the WB three film UK Hitchcock collection which has another North by Northwest release and I'll be saddled with it too.

Of course this would go on sale to the price I'd have jumped on just three days after I lose my job.

Well, yeah, but October is horror movie month, and I had a lot to buy back then.

This set has PSYCHO and THE BIRDS in it, so it would have qualified.
