I ordered the US edition and have received 3 replacements now and they are all damaged and all scratched discs on numerous of the titles. Is the UK set any better? This is getting ridiculous.

Are you sure they're scratches and not just glue scuffs? My Hitchcock set had marks on a number of the discs, but I was able to buff them off with a t-shirt, they were just glue from the sleeves/pages of the digibook.

Not just that but the box itself was damaged badly

Ah, could be because the set is older and the boxes have been bumping around in a warehouse for a while. I got the Criterion Antoine Doinel boxset as a gift last year, and it's a few years old. The copy Amazon sent me looked like a truck ran over it. I sent it back for a replacement, and the second one was just as bad.
