Bad writing, bad characters, poor editing and focus, annoying scenes like Marcus undressing and the remix of Trek 2 at the end. Just a bad movie IMO.
I mostly agree with you but the only real problem i had with Into Darkness was that Khan just wasn't Khan.

Well, short of digging up and reanimating Ricardo Montalban, what else should have they done for this fictional character?

And Kirk wasn't Kirk, Spock wasn't Spock, Uhura wasn't Uhura...

Zombie Khan would've been awesome.

Zombie Khan in the Search for Spock's Brain: The Movie.

It writes itself.

I definitely think that '09 is the superior film, but I still enjoy STID. And it never bothered me that Kirk was made captain. Star Fleet was in shambles, and hey, he's Kirk!
MOST ANTICIPATED: Knight of Cups, Mockingjay2, Mistress America, Carol, Neon Demon, Personal Shopper, Macbeth, The Lobster, Joy, Steve Jobs, Amy, Dark Places, The Assassin, Southpaw

Great, now I've got Ron Burgundy in my head too. Maybe Paramount could have an Anchorman/Trek crossover? Still, Star Trek: LOUD NOISES basically sums up the reboots thus far.

They were trying to show that the universe tends to correct itself even though a string of changes occurred when Nero destroyed the original timeline. Hence, O'hura pressuring spoke to be assigned to the enterprise for being the top student, Sulu being there cause McKena had lung worm, Scotty being on Hoth , culminating with Kirk being hand picked by Pike to be captain due to his promotion. It tried to delve into this but didn't shove it down our throats the audience needed to connect the dots so to speak that there was an underlying force bringing them all together regardless of the new timeline.

I enjoyed ST09 more than STID just because it seems fresher and wasn't trying to step on another movies toes like STID did with STII. I would have preferred a different villain but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Looking forward to STB.

Cheers,

The last one of these, I swear.

"Uhura, this is your doctor. I have your pregnancy report here, and guess what. You got knocked up. You should probably get out of Starfleet."
