It's available on Amazon.ca. Looks to be bilingual packaging, but if you want it, it's reasonably priced.

Amazon.ca now has it for 7.99 CAD. Even with the high shipping rate it works out to about $14USD shipped

Thank you! I ordered over the weekend and my card got rejected, I now have to authorize international orders ugh. But it shipped Monday mid day eastern time and Tuesday it was delivered to my doorstep DHL. I chose the least expensive shipping method too. Is that normal? I'm in Florida by the way. If so, Amazon CA is going to get much business ASAP. I like 20c on the dollar difference

Any chance of this seeing a reprint? A classic western out of print. It's just a damn shame. Seriously. I'm fed up with seeing NUMEROUS releases of the same film without any sort of difference besides a photoshopped cover when we can't even keep ONE classic in rotation due to probable licensing disputes. Jesus.

I believe it should come back soon, once whoever (Universal?) will be distributing the Paramount titles next year. At least it's still available at Amazon.ca.

The same thing happened to me. I chose the standard shipping method just two days ago. Yesterday I received a text indicating the movie would be delivered next week sometime. I got home from work today and received another text indicating it would be delivered today. I went directly to the door and it was already there! It took less than 48 hours to get shipped from British Columbia to Pennsylvania.

Anyway, I immediately watched the movie and the picture and sound were great. This is a great movie, definitely one of the top westerns. It has to be Alan Ladd's greatest movie. The music, acting, story, cinematography, direction and writing all came together for this masterpiece.

Love this movie and, of course, the most famous story about it (originally read about this in Pauline Kael's review of the film)-"'Shane' was shot in the traditional 1.37:1 aspect ratio in 1951, but by the time the methodical director finished his meticulous editing of the movie, the widescreen process was poised to forever transform the motion picture industry, and no studio wanted to be left in the dust. So right before 'Shane' opened, Paramount cropped Loyal Griggs' gorgeous cinematography on the top and bottom of the frame so the film could be exhibited in the wider 1.66:1 format. 'Shane' thus became the first widescreen film of the modern era, beating by eight months the release of 20th Century Fox's highly touted CinemaScope epic, 'The Robe.' "

Interesting. I'm hard-pressed to imagine how they could improve on the current disc.

It's just a re-release, that'll be identical to the existing BD. Paramount previously had Warner distribute it, but that deal is over, so now Paramount is re-releasing all those titles themselves in waves. Shane is part of the May wave along wtih Congo, and a few others.

The UK release deals with the aspect ratio question by having three different versions. I suppose it depends on your collecting tastes whether that would be an improvement, but I am intrigued by that solution.

I missed the warner release so I'll take the plunge on this for only $9.99. This is a western I've meant to own for a long time now.

I can easily see this one going between $5-7.99 for Father's Day, will wait a few weeks after release.

I want to see this before watching Logan again, so I'll be preordering soon. Glad to see Paramount rereleasing previous WB-distributed titles.
