I obviously had the same thought! I picked up a VP 160 from the Axiom factory last week. I traded in the VP150.

On an A/B test last year, I chose the VP150, but having lived with it since May I felt like there was something missing. After a week I can say there's nothing missing now. The VP160, as advertised, is a solid match for the M60s. The sound is definitely seamless across the front; very pleasing at moderate volume, and clean and sweet when things get loud. MCACC sets this centre at 2db higher than the towers; that's likely because the towers get reinforced by reflections from the side walls. I don't feel any need to change the level settings.

I have not really listened to comparable centre speakers, so I can't give a useful reference that way.

It is a BIG box to have sitting under the TV, in fact I think it looks a bit odd. See the updated pics in my gallery. Be sure you have space!

Stilljoe, Thanks of the advice. I do feel as I am missing something with my center speaker.

I did get the QS8's, and I love them! For surround speakers I've had Mirage OMD-5's, MartinLogan FX2's, Kef Q800DS, and Polk Fxi A6's. I'd put the QS8 right there with the OMD-5 as the best surrounds I've heard. Best to me means the speaker disappears and really envelopes you in the sound. I love the sound of the QS8 so does that automatically mean I would love the sound of the rest of the Axiom line?

Anyone with LFRs that care to share their insights on them? Axiom is offering a very good trade up deal for my M60s and I'm really curious how they sound from people other than professional reviewers.

Ok I think I've decided I'll be buying Axioms for my family room replacement speakers. I was looking for a setup much less bulky than my current system and the on-wall speakers look like they're up to the task (plus being a Canadian company is a major plus)!

I'm thinking a VP150, 2x M22 and 2x M3 (or maybe the QS4s).

Is there anything I should note/worry about buying these on-wall speakers versus the standard bookshelf model?

I have heard the standard M22 and thought they were great! I'm hoping the on-wall equivalent is just as amazing.

Thanks!

Did you get the "Standard Power", or the "High Power" unit?
I'm also considering replacing my VP150 with the VP160, to match my M60's.

I just got the standard model. It's more than adequate in my room - about 11x 17 x 7.5.
After the trade in value of the VP150, I paid about $250 with a discount for no shipping - it's about a 2.5 hour drive for me to Dwight. Guess that's not an option for you.

Last week I got an e-mail from Axiom advertising the Trade-Up program. On Friday, I decided to pull the trigger and I traded my vp-100 for a vp-160. I am looking forward for its arrival. Now I need to make some room for it.

After a long month, I finally received the e-mail that my VP 160 has been shipped. I am excited and I cannot wait to pop Revenge of the Sith and hear my new center speaker.

That's great news!
What are you using for your main speakers? M60's, M80's?

If this VP-160 center speaker wasn't so damn big, I would have traded in my VP-150 a while ago.
The center speaker shelf on my TV stand (Init NT-C1201) has 60" of width, 18" of depth, but only 8" of height.

Will it fit the VP-160?

Thanks!

That's what I thought. Thanks for the dimensions.
This must be one of the tallest center channels out there.

I could maybe remove my middle shelf, but I'm afraid it may be required for integrity/support.
