I can see it, but it's doubtful. The early Oscar predictions have pretty much ignored it on the basis that PJ didn't want to direct it in the first place. I'm keeping it out of my own top 10 for now but things can change.

Finally got the chance to catch a matinee showing today and loved it! A refreshingly fun, innocent and delightful visual treat from quirk master Wes Anderson! Enjoyed it from start to finish including the end credits. Can't wait for the Blu release-- hopefully another Criterion-- and picking up the soundtrack soon!

Pointless? Wouldn't that make almost all films pointless then

It is funny how there is a bit of a divide on that. I am a huge fan of Life Aquatic and Rushmore and consider The Royal Tenenbaums to be Wes' masterpiece. I really liked Moonrise quite a bit and will definitely get it when it comes out. Others consider Moonrise to be the maturation of Wes and think it is his best.
Wolverine: I'm the best at what I do.
Deadpool: And now I'm better at doing whatever it is Wolverine does!

i dont think its one of his worst, i think it falls right in the middle.
id go
Royal Tennebaums

Rushmore
Moonrise Kingdom
Fantastic Mr Fox
Life Aquatic
Darjeeling Limited

i like all of his films, just some more than others.

I am the same way. I like all of his films, but I only own the three that I mentioned and I will definitely add Moonrise. I just don't like the other's enough to have purchased them. I do love his style though. I would probably be more inclined to rank them:
Royal Tenenbaums
Life Aquatic
Rushmore
Moonrise Kingdom
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Darjeeling Limited
Bottle Rocket

Though, I really need to check out the last two again as I have only seen each once.
Wolverine: I'm the best at what I do.
Deadpool: And now I'm better at doing whatever it is Wolverine does!

I've never been a huge fan of Wes Anderson until this film. I've always found his style interesting, and while I enjoy quirky characters most of his films never really seemed to get the viewer invested in them, more like examining these odd, dysfunctional people from a distance.

MOONRISE KINGDOM was the first time I could feel close to and empathize with characters, especially the two kids (from beginning to end), but also the adult characters to varying degrees at different times, notably Bruce Willis and Frances McDormand, and to a certain extent Ed Norton and Bill Murray as well. Anderson's trademark artificial style only served to bring us into their world this time instead of pointing out how different it was. Excellent film -- my favorite of the year so far and Anderson's masterpiece, with DARJEELING LIMITED trailing a ways back in second place.

I was surprised at how bad this movie is, 1start. By far his worst Wes Anderson movie that I've watched.

I don't buy into Wes Anderson much. His humor and mine just don't normally jive. He's always so critically acclaimed and popular on these forums, I always WANT to like his movies, but I never do. The royal tenenbaums was an exception, but even that I didn't love. I'm planning on giving this one a shot when the price is right... Hopefully this will be the one that changes my
Opinion of Anderson, but i have my doubts.

I gave this four stars after seeing it in theaters, but now that I've seen it a couple more times on blu, I would definitely like to change that to a five if I could.
