UPA-1 just killed my tweeter on my LSi15 :(

RMA has been placed, I didn't have the original box So I am having it overnighted and then I will overnight the amp back to them so hopefully by Wednesday they will have it

small update, had emo overnight the shipping box since previous owner didn't have it. just dropped off the amp to be overnighted back to them.

Spoke to polk, told them what I needed, asked me to email them the proof of purchase and give them my shipping info. just waiting to hear back from them

once polk replies back and says the parts are on the way ill start to feel better.

Been there , my first amp I ever had failed in the first week, I was not to happy. It worked out in the end, after the amp was serviced it was in use for over 8 years before I sold it.

Was on hold waiting for someone to answer at polk because I had not heard anything back yet and I got an email that the parts are on the way (I called them because they are only there when I am at work and I can only call during my lunch)

Amp arrived back at Emotiva today as well.

Should be up and running in no time


Edit: I will say to that so far both companies have been very helpful which is cool, refreshing to have companies with good customer service

Good for you! I'm glad both companies stepped up to the plate with your problem. There is no replacement for excellent customer service.

small update: polk didn't actually ship the replacement parts the day they said they did, they shipped a couple days later (finally got an email with the tracking which indicated it wasn't picked up till 2 days later)

Emotiva is working on the amp and so far can find no problem which makes me rather nervous because I had 2 other people who could distinctly smell the burning smell coming from that amp :/

also my exploded tweeter and crossover seem to indicate there was a problem

Hey all, this is probably a question really only for those familiar with the LSi series but her it goes.

I am trying to trace what actually died on the crossover and I am using my multimeter in short/open so it just makes a tone if there is a connection.

With one end of the multimeter In the negative speaker terminal I get a tone (indicating a connection) with the other end in
+w
-d2
-t

moving the multimeter to the positive speaker terminal I get a tone only on
-w


I started tracing it and confirmed the resistor along the tweeter is dead but it doesn't explain the other weird readings, or does it?


Hooked the multimeter up to each driver and the only one that doesn't give me a tone is the tweeter

UPA-1 has arrived back and they said they found nothing wrong. Havent tested it yet because the crossovers from my front 3 speakers are in the process of being upgraded as we speak
