I don't see why not, if that's what's advertised on the rear of the packaging. I believe MLP is similar to TrueHD, but I'm not 100% certain.
I don't have that release, so I can't 100 verify, one way or another.

Well, the article says that MLP is "a major component of Dolby TrueHD." Could it be a "scheme" to avoid rights fees to Dolby? Would most systems even decode it?

Dolby TrueHD, used in Blu-ray and HD DVD, employs MLP, but compared with DVD-Audio, adds higher bit rates, 8 full-range channels, extensive metadata, and custom speaker placements (as specified by SMPTE).
Again, this is consistent with kukushka's Dolby TrueHD spec listing. TrueHD is not quite DTS-HD MA, I guess it is the VC-1 to DTS-HD's AVC, but it's still miles better than ordinary lossy audio, which is the equivalent of SD in audio terms.

TrueHD/MLP is a lossless codec (i.e., a Zip file for LPCM), so it is the equivalent of DTS-HD MA. The balance is changing due to Atmos (an extension to TrueHD), improved encoders & shameless Dolby promotion, but before that the industry leaned towards DTS-HD MA because (a) unlike TrueHD its encoders were properly written for full forwards & backwards compatibility from the beginning, and (b) at default encoder settings the lossy core of DTS-HD MA (1.5 Mbps DTS) is generally preferred over TrueHD's (640 kbps DD); but except for add-ons like Atmos & dialnorm, TrueHD = DTS-HD MA = LPCM.

I'm sure Deltamac chose to call it MLP instead of TrueHD so they wouldn't owe extra royalties to Dolby.

FYI--According to the scan, this Asian edition with Dolby TrueHD is just the 2009 film encode on a BD-25, with no, or very little extras, and no audio commentary (notice a second English: Dolby Digital 2.0 track is missing).

For reference:

2006 US BD (with 640 kbps DD 5.1 audio and DD 2.0 commentary):

Disc Size: 29,401,457,918 bytes
Feature Size: 17,973,215,232 bytes
Video Bitrate (VC-1): 15948 kbps

Scan of supposed 2014 Asian BD with 16-bit TrueHD 5.1 audio at 2419 kbps and no commentary:

Disc Size: 23,265,424,804 bytes
Feature Size: 22,721,071,104 bytes
Video Bitrate (VC-1): 15947 kbps

Those numbers might not be exact, but they strongly indicate that WB has left all the extras and the commentary off this edition, either because of subtitling costs, or wanting to use BD-25 media.
"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

At least this makes sense. 23 gigs on a 25 gig single layered disc. It's the first release that had it all messed up: Copy-pasting a dual layered HDDVD on a dual layered blu ray disc and just let the remaining 20 gigabytes of space go to waste when both video and audio could've been improved. The same goes for all the early Warner releases that were released on HDDVD.

I wish I could call them cheap, but since the first release was still a BD50, they were way more lazy and not giving a damn about quality than cheap. Which is even worse.

Except that WB haven't maximized a BD-25. The video encode is (for all intents and purposes) identical to the 2006 BD, the only thing making the feature file larger on the 2014 disc is the additional audio and subtitle options.

On the other hand, the other WB editions boast the commentary and well over two hours of extra video content.

Given that this is a 16-bit TrueHD track, I'm more surprised it wasn't on the initial 2006 BD. After all, the HD DVD (which has all the extras) had English: Dolby Digital Plus audio in the first place.

Granted, it's an expensive upgrade, but you can keep the US edition for the extras (if you aren't done with them - and how many times would you listen to a commentary?) and watch/listen to the movie from the new disc. Pop the two BDs into a double-disc case (got a ton of those from all the "coaster cases") and you're set.

So I ordered this on December 29th from yesasia and I just got it today. As soon as I got it from the mailbox I popped it in. Yes I can confirm 100% that it does in fact have a 5.1 DolbyTrueHD soundtrack. I guess they just didn't want to pay for that Dolby HD logo so it says MLP on the back but don't worry it's real. It has the exact same transfer of course. And as suspected it doesn't have any special features at all. Everything sounds GREAT, really great. So many of the outdoor scenes enveloped me with wind and rain.
