There has been no repressing of the disc. Only a change in packaging.

Last Fall's Blu-ray 35th anniversary release of Halloween is unquestionably the best home video version of the film - excellent. Though the picture & sound quality are obviously better, another modification that I liked was the lighting - in past releases of the film, it's very evident that this movie was shot during the Spring/Summer since the trees are very green. The fallen leaves were obviously added to make it seem like the film took place in the Autumn, which IMHO actually made these scenes look even more artificial...

However, in this release, that didn't bother me as much since the lighting is appropriately somewhat dark/dim, even during the daytime scenes - and, the green trees aren't as evident here. In fact, the muted daylight here seem much more appropriately foreboding than in previous releases....

Also enjoyed the small booklet that came with this, which went into the history behind the making of the film w/behind the scenes photos. Great stuff.

No offense to anyone who may have bought into it, but that video is so bad (and so obviously shot on video), I can't see how anyone would believe it's a vintage '80s trailer.

If they had played it up as one of those '80s shot-on-video productions -- like Boardinghouse, Blood Cult, or Cannibal Campout -- it would have been pretty convincing. No-budget SOV producers trying to cash in on the Halloween franchise while the rights are in limbo, whatever. The trailer actually has me nostalgic for the real-deal no-budget SOV horror movies from the '80s (they're so bad but oh so good!).

The thing is, though, the rights were never really in limbo. They were always with Trancas. And in spite of some awful things he did approve over the years, Moustapha Akkad never would have approved anything so low-rent as a SOV Halloween film starring what appear to be out-of-work porn actors. haha

Default Oh Happy Day

My brother won a copy of the 35th anniversary edition of "Halloween" on another web site and he gave it to me with only small strings attached. (I think I might have to give him my copy of "Prometheus" but it's worth it.)

So I'm watching the 3-part BRADY BUNCH Hawaii episodes from the early 70's (which I hadn't seen in at least 30 years, and I'm not going to say why I'm watching them again now - lol - but Vincent Price is in it) where Bobby finds the taboo idol and bad things start to happen to everyone who wears it, and it has the same short music cue whenever something bad is going to happen that Carpenter later used in HALLOWEEN. It's that short cue at the very beginning of the below youtube clip. Was Carpenter inspired by the music in The Brady Bunch that he took it and made it his own!? Oh my. Has this ever been discussed before? Or maybe it's a PD library music cue? And then there was that earlier episode with an ugly girl that schoolmates trick to go to the prom so that she will be embarrassed. Hmmmm - Carrie? And that other Brady Bunch episode where Marcia helps an ugly girl to look pretty, and then when that girl becomes popular and beautiful via makeup and such, it goes to her head and she turns into a b*tch, just like in Clueless. Ohmygawd, what other hell hath the BRADY BUNCH 'inspired'?

Is the transfer from the US blu-ray identical with the UK one?

Hilarious - my girlfriend and I were just watching some of that 3-parter yesterday when we came across it on tv! Wow, I never noticed this before! There's a remarkable similarity to that music cue.
