On their way:

Yes I went for it! Can't wait to see what it's like. I've almost collected all the MoC releases I want (for now). There are too many I'd like on DVD though but am a little bit awry about that in case they release upgrades in some cases.
Pre-orders: ACE IN THE HOLE (1951), KOYAANISQATSI/POWAQQATSI (1982/1988), THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (2014), PRINCESS MONONOKE (1997), IF.... (1968), OUR VINYL WEIGHS A TON (2013), THE CHRIS MARKER COLLECTION (1956-2004), THE ROCKET (2014), THE KILLING FIELDS (1984), HER (2014), HAROLD AND MAUDE (1971), THE 'BURBS (1989), BLACK NARCISSUS (1947), UNDER THE SKIN (2014), THE WERNER HERZOG COLLECTION (1967-1987), EYES WITHOUT A FACE (1960), ONLY LOVERS LEFT ALIVE (2014)

I thought it was very good. A big improvement on the previous one, which I was slightly bored with. I'll look forward to number three!

Definitely better than the first. As a film it was great, not a great deal to do with the book though. I think Peter Jackson should be sued by trading standards for using the Hobbit name The trilogy should be called Peter Jackson's Adventures in Middle Earth

Makes you wonder who it was exactly that wanted a trilogy of movies around The Hobbit. A collective eyebrow was raised when it was envisaged as two movies. Stretching it to three was always going to mean going well beyond the source material. PJ's argument is that he's expanding out some of the relevant information from the LotR appendices that cut across The Hobbit, but still, as a connection between the book(s) and movies it's tenuous.

I enjoyed the second movie, certainly more than the first which just plodded along for far too long.
