Yeah, you're probably right. The wood in my pic was just a mock up for fitment so I didn't have to drill a ton of holes in the finished piece but yeah, I may swap that out for a metal plate.

You're lucky to have all that room. Mine is an electric recliner and between the metal frame, motor and reclining mechanisms it was real tight on space.

Thanks guys. I hope to get to it this week/weekend. I spent most of the past weekend doing my taxes, complicated year, a lot happened, took a lot more time than expected.

Wood would be a lot easier to work with but I agree, it should be metal all the way if possible. I might get some aluminum tubing and clamps from Home Depot and use that, easier to work with than steel and should do the job just fine.

This is under the arm rest of the couch, it's one of those reclining couches with the console in the middle. I have one under each arm rest. It works great and you cannot tell that the shaking is coming from the arm rest, it feels like it's in the floor.

Hello everyone, need some advice;

I purchased a SVS sb-2000 and have been using it for around 3 months. Yesterday, I watched a movie and all was well. Today, I put in another film and my subwoofer was emitting loud crackling noises whenever it was supposed to be emitting bass.

So I started troubleshooting:

I swapped the cable, I had a brand new spare, but still got the crackling noise.

I turned it off and on. Disconnected the power cord and reconnected it, still got the crackling noise.

I switched from "auto" to "on", still the same issue.

Tomorrow I am going to try it with a different receiver I have in a separate room. See if perhaps it is my AVR.

None of the settings were changed on the back of the sub.

I didn't try recalibrating it though with audyssey to see if that would make a difference. But I don't see why I would need to.

I purchased the sub brand new directly from SVS. So, worst comes to worst, I will give them a call.

Anyone else experience a similar issue?

No haven't had crackling but have had two bad amps replaced under warranty so far. Your problem could be a bad speaker if played to loud which bottomed out the speaker and caused something to crack or could be a wire loose inside the subwoofer.

I don't think I've abused the subwoofer in anyway. The loudest I've gone with it is -15, which is plenty loud for my small living room. From what I've read on-line, it is probably something loose inside the sub. It is just really strange though because it was playing perfectly fine the night before, and then last night, all it would emit is loud crackling sounds. I want to try it with a different AVR this evening when I get home from work, before I call SVS.

Thanks for the replay.

After more troubleshooting, the sub was still exhibiting the same issue. I sent SVS a short video-clip of the sub making the strange noises and they are sending me a replacement driver.

Just an update in case anyone was interested:

I received the new driver last week and that did not solve the issue. I contacted SVS to let them know this and they shipped out a new amp, which is essentially the entire back panel. I received that yesterday and that did fix the issue. So, after re-calibrating my system, I am back in action. I really missed my sub those few weeks.

I am to mail back the old amp / back panel with free return shipping, using the box they sent the new amp / back panel. I asked them if they wanted me to return my old driver, which works fine, and they did not respond. So, I will keep it unless they tell me otherwise.

I would contact SVS, they are very honest and will give you good feedback on how the PB2000 compares with your PC12s.
We absolutely love our PB2000s - they manage way more bass than we need in our theater room and we love good seat shaking bass. I think the combination of performance and build quality you get in this sub $1000 setup is a lot of bang for the buck.
Cons - large foot print, heavy (kinda cons - required for a well designed ported bass).

I believe they offer a no questions asked 45 day audition!

Two weeks in with my SB16. It's an absolute monster, leaps and bounds better than my old Epik Empire (may it rest in peace).

There's notes I definitely haven't felt before.

Great sub isn't it. Upgraded from a SB13 too SB16 1,5 years ago and added a second beginning of this year. Can't imagine needing more
bass then i get right now.

Have to rearrange my setup as it's getting a bit to cramped in the corner but for now really pleased with
the sound, also the Sony A1 is amazing but i find 65 inch already to small for movie watching, too bad the
77 inch are so expensive and thinking about going with projector and 120+ inch screen.

After months and months of deliberation, I finally settled on the PB-1000 as my subwoofer. It had arrived and was waiting for me yesterday when I arrived home after being away for work.

My question is regarding the subwoofer cable. I picked up the Rocketfish subwoofer cable from Best Buy (link below). Should I go ahead and use this or should I order the SVS SoundPath cable (link also below)? Is there any discernible difference between these 2 cables that would justify a higher cost and not receiving for a few more days?
