They were $24.99 at mine today. Asked if they would honor the $8 off and it was a no go.

Found out we are getting a Costco in October. How is the blu selection? How's everything else compared to Sams?

The experience is very similar to Sam's. The feel of the store, the things they have, etc. But I have a definite preference for Costco. I think their store branded products are better.

The blu-ray selection is limited -- no catalog of titles stocked, just the most recent releases (of new releases and catalog titles). It's not a game changer on price -- the prices are no better than Amazon, unless it's a very special Costco price (occasionally happens).

That's right. Costco and Sam's both have poor movie selections and deals. The last BDs I got from Costco were the Twilight Zone and Marilyn Monroe sets on special. I haven't bought a BD from Sam's in so long I don't remember. Just today I was at Sam's and looked over their pathetic BD section. Everything under $10 was stuff I'd mostly gotten for $5 ages ago. Everything else was at least as much as I could get it at Target or BB without even trying. I think the only reason Sam's has a BD section is in hopes of catching impulse buyers who don't care how much it costs, but for deal shoppers neither place is very good.

I'm saddened to read a few posts above that lately Costco had only 2 Disney BDs. I don't expect much out of Sam's Club, but I expect a bit more from Costco. When I was last at Costco in December, they had at least 5x as many BDs as Sam's Club, though of course 5x almost nothing still isn't much. Sounds like Costco has even less BDs now.

Musta missed the gangster set, but picked it up beforehand at b&n for a little over 25 (sale price, member discount, part of a coupon); it was listed as available at only a few b&n stores out of the several in the area, maybe that will change as that sale continues.

Anyway I did see "The Verdict", along with "Great Escape" and "Brubaker" and "Viva Zapata", presumably they all had same sku 765274, for 9.99.

I think Sams Club has better pizza in the Cafe area and better cupcakes. Costco has a better overall bakery section/alcohol/organic foods/seasonal items.

I think the only blu's I get at Sams is around Black Friday.

Costco and Sam's Club both have mediocre Blu-ray sections, most of the year. The only time that Costco bothers to have great deals on media items is now in December. Their new release pricing is horrendous for the most part.

I would gather media is one of Costco's top loss leaders, that and coffins.

We do not have any loss leaders. We move product!

Might I add, we sell books, tires, fish, produce, hot tubs, and hearing aids. So try not to compare us to a media outlet. We normally have the best Tuesday prices (that last for 2 days). We also sell Criterions at a decent price. Are we the Blu-ray place?...NO WAY. But as a member, stop buy the small section of Blu's here and there and you will score an occasional Blu at a great deal. Things move fast at Costco. We lock in a price on certain amount and it better sell.

I got The Fast and the furious for $7.99 since I didn't get any of them during u&s. I still need to get 2 fast 2 furious and I can wait and get the third and fourth later.

Yup, totally agree. I am guessing you get a lot of repeat buyers on those coffins.
