Oh gee, that's gonna be expensive.

Gonna hold on to the US BD of Violent Cop (despite the fugly cover art) and grab the other ones.
My Music Collection "The life of a Repo Man is always intense."

Nice. Definitely interested in all the titles not yet released by Third Window Films.
Great to see English subs on there too.
Would be nice if there was a complete boxset option (though I'm sure it would be a tad pricey).

Oh my... This news is incredible. First off, that there's English Subs. Secondly, that the cover art for each is perfect. Gonna have to rebuy Violent Cop and Boiling Point to get rid of the horrific US cover art. Also, finally Sonatine!!

Wow.

Also, hoping these drop into the 3000 range.

film movement did themselves no favours with those unusually-expensive USA discs for 'violent cop' and 'boiling point' - if those J discs are as solid as i would expect, they're not much more.

Whatever you think of the cover art/pricing on the Film Movement releases, I don't think there was anything wrong with the discs themselves, and I'm quite happy to own them. And even though I usually opt for Region A releases, I definitely prefer to support Third Window's releases over Asian imports, so I'm quite happy with their releases of Hana-bi and Kikujiro, also.

That said, this is huge news for the unreleased titles, especially Sonatine which TWF couldn't get the rights to. I only wonder if they aren't still planning to release some of the others...

Anyways, definitely interested in Sonatine and Takeshis'! Two of my favourite Kitano films (I just watched Takeshi's for the first time and what a beautiful bunch of nonsense it is)!

Amazing news.
Gonna stick with my Third Window discs (and get their "Getting Any" in october) but very happy to finally buy Violent Cop, Boiling Point, Brother and Sonatine.
Gonna wait how Zaitoichi compares to the UK disc before I consider upgrading... and definitely don't need any of the movies he did after that.

Only trailers as extras? (except "Glory to the Filmmaker" which has a 3 minute short film)

No wonder these are priced pretty cheap...

they're at 3k yen each today. wondering if they will go lower. they're surprisingly low, but there's a while before release.

i've never ordered from amazon JP - but i've looked at the shipping and import fees deposit and it adds another 20 to the order if i have 3 of them.

Not likely. They're now -26%, which is the usual price (plus/minus a % or two) for pre-order items at Amazon JP. The price may go up, though (I'm not saying that's terribly likely, but sometimes it happens).

If you place an order now, you will be charged the lowest price if the price does indeed go down before the release date.

Awesome. Think I'll order a few more, now that the prices are more reasonable. Especially, since they have English subtitles. I want to support their decision to add them.

Thinking about getting Hana-bi, Sonatine, Boiling Point, and Violent Cop - my favorite Kitanos.

Are these limited in anyway? I'd like to get them all eventually but should probably just buy a couple at a time due to cost

Wow, apparently, these are coming out to tie-in with Kitano's latest film, Outrage: Coda which is the second sequel to Outrage, and is being released on October 7th, 2017 in Japan. Here is the trailer (no subs):

Hopefully, it will also include English subtitles when released on Blu-ray, and maybe, just maybe, Bandai will release it on 4K UHD.
"You might very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

Do you plan to even display them with the cover art showing or will it just be filed away where you can only see the binding?

I'm going to display them with the covert art showing. Thank you so much for being interested in how I display my Blu-rays.

Question is, how much improved if any, the PQ/SQ compared to the already released Third Eye films.
At least 'Brother' is finally going to replace my aging DVD. Beautiful cover art on these releases, almost worth double dipping.............

Outrage: Coda looks promising, Gob smacking PQ on that trailer. If they release this on 4K, it will be my first purchase in the new format provided of course it gets a 4k DI.

I doubt these will be any better than the Third Window Films and Film Movement releases in terms of picture and sound. I assume they'll probably be the same. Those are better releases anyway since they also come with special features. I am loving the cover art though, but since these are just Amarays there's no point double dipping.

I'm definitely in for Brother, Sonatine, and the Filmmaker Trilogy; I don't think any English language distributor's got plans for those. I wonder if Zatoichi will look better than the Artificial Eye disc though.
