Thanks. At least someone noticed the (rhetorical) question marks in my post.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain.
Time to die.

Well, there's a framing difference in more than just the first cap. Now I'd really like the see a comparison between the US & UK BDs.

I was referring to the individual release of the Extended Edition in comparison to the disc that's included in the Anthology set.

Also as far as I know the U.S. & U.K. BD's are identical.

I don't understnad!
What's the UK anthology and what's the UK expanded anthology?
I thought there was one anthology box!
And the pictures in Superman 1 seem different in the 2 boxes.

edit: Oh, i got it. It's the theatrical and expanded edition of Superman

in superman 2 I much prefer the screenshots from the Donner cut. Although i haven't seen it!

Imo the Theatrical Cut of Superman II looks better in motion.

It looks more detailed and the grain is preserved better.

Yeah, the Donner Cut has had some DNR added to it.

There's definitely more care put into the theatrical version of Superman II. It seems like a higher quality scan compared to the Donner Cut. Better color timing as the Donner Cut shifts a little too red at times. The theatrical is AVC encoded too.

I want Supergirl.

Both cuts!
If you have to whip out a microscope to decide if you like a Blu-ray or not, you are missing the point.

I think it may be the encoding that's giving it that smooth look and not DNR.

It was one of Warner's first BD's and a lot of those early discs are quite bit starved.

Yeah, it's just a bit of filtering, not outright DNR. The Donner Cut is one of Warners' better efforts from those early dual-format days, but the theatrical is obviously a newer transfer entirely (just like the theatrical of STM was).

I like both versions of the movie, so it's a win/win for me.

The Donner Cut seems to have a very "cool" look to it. Everything seems "blue-er". Same goes for the expanded STM. Theatrical SII looks more like I remember it as a kid (color timing wise), but the contrast is blown out waaaay too much.
