Looks like Doom will handle the cart size issue by having the full single player on the cartridge and the download portion the multiplayer.

is it really that much more expensive for them to just put the games on a higher capacity card? Standard now is what 32? That was alwys going to be too small

32GB cards are currently the highest. They go down to 1GB. The higher the card, the more Nintendo charges developers for it. Even if Nintendo has higher capacity cards in the future, they'll be even more expensive than the 32 card (which some developers are already hesitant to buy)
The best number is 73. Why? 73 is the 21st prime number. Its mirror, 37, is the 12th and its mirror, 21, is the product of multiplying 7 and 3... and in binary 73 is a palindrome, 1001001, which backwards is 1001001.
Films I'd like to see on Blu-Ray Disc:
Scarface (1932)
ABC Weekend Specials (1977–1995) [TV Movies]

On the plus side, I heard it's an optional download (as opposed to mandatory). Thus if you don't care about multiplayer, you don't have to use up the storage space to download.

Its going to be the same as any tech, as time goes by the carts will get cheaper. Flash memory gets cheaper and cheaper every year.

On another note, Switch was the highest selling console 4 of its first 6 months.

I'm aware, however some companies don't seem to care. Apple still charges an exorbitant amount of money for RAM and HDD/SSD upgrades for their Macs. Despite 3rd party RAM chips being half the price.

Nintendo is just as price hungry as Apple.

Prices may be dropping, but that won't stop these two companies from having high margins.

First, no one is as price crazy as Apple, not even Nintendo

While Nintendo has still been very Nintendo-like with a number of things this generation, they have also begun to do a number of Un-Nintendo things to get 3rd Party developers to jump on board with the Switch. As prices for the cartridges fall, I think that those savings will be one of the things Nintendo passes on to the developers, at least partially.

Tell that to Sony and the Vita memory cards

$7.99 for color-matching wrist straps instead of just including them in the box would suggest otherwise.

That's less than $10 for a personal preference thing on a tiny accessory that is included with the actual product. Plus, Japanese customers can do that.

Orders of magnitudes below Apple's pricing of over $1,000 for a bloody phone. And that's without even looking at the absurd price of the computers and basically everything else they sell. Apple is the undeniable king of price crazy.

It has an OLED screen. Have you seen how expensive OLED TVs are?
Nintendo charges $5 extra for a little added color to their Pro Controllers. $69.99 for the basic one, $74.99 for either the Splatoon or Xenoblade color option.
And why the hell is a Joy-Con $50?

So has the Galaxy for a while now for several hundred less.

Nintendo does charge high prices for its products, I'm just saying Apple is even worse.

Come on, you cant deny Apple's pricing. Having an OLED screen isnt why its so expensive. Apple upcharges on all their products. Its how they make money. Its as simple as that. They could probably sell the X at $900 and still make a hefty profit. They will sell it at $1000 and make an even bigger profit. They do it bc they can get away with it.

Yes, Apple charges more than they should for stuff because they know they can get away with it because people will buy their stuff regardless of cost...

...but Nintendo is the same way.

I had reported a while back that there was an emulator hidden in the Switch firmware. It seems there's also NES golf hidden as well.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/09/1...tchs-firmware/

Quote:
You may recall a couple of months ago that a built-in Nintendo Switch emulator had been discovered by modders. The emulator only came with the word “flog”, and modders have managed to figure out what that word means. “flog” is “golf” backwards, and it turns out that an old game, NES Golf, has been hidden inside the Nintendo Switch’s firmware. Not only is the game playable, but the “flog” NES Golf supports two player via Joy-Cons. Some are speculating that there’s some kind of hidden method that allows players to launch the game from the Switch menu, but nobody knows for sure.

More info on Flog/Golf and how it may be activated.

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2017/...-nes-emulator/

Supposedly it can only be activated one day a year. July 11th, the day Iwata died. You cannot spoof a system that’s been taken online by changing the internal clock since the system network time syncs.

A pretty interesting read and find if true.

^ those custom Joy-Con shells have been around for some time. You can get them on Amazon. It requires a little DIY on your current Joy-Con.
