FYI, this is on sale for $39.99 at B&N for the month of October. If B&N sends out any coupons this month, a membership discount and 20% off coupon would bring it down to around $28.50.

Default Beware of Amazon poor packaging tho

I received my set today and was so disappointed that Amazon had mailed it in a BUBBLE MAILER! When I opened it, the outer box was crushed and looked as if someone had sat on it. I couldn't believe it. I've received smaller, cheaper items from Amazon in the past that arrived packed in a big cardboard box with air bags around it to protect it. You'd think someone would have thought better than to send a Blu-Ray box set in a flimsy paper envelope.

I also received my package from Amazon in a bubble mailer.
But, the difference is, that my product was fortunately not crushed or damaged in any way.
Amazon should stick to the cardborad boxes with air bags so what happened in your case is not ever repeated!

My first copy arrived crushed in a bubble mailer. I ordered a replacement that came in a corrugated cardboard mailer and it was in pristine condition. I do wish Amazon would send box sets in a box, which is more sturdy, but that doesn't seem to be how they operate. But they always make it right in the end.

I ordered this and Vikings from Amazon and they came in today. They were in the same box with a rubber band around them. Neither arrived in great shape. The Hitch set actually has a Wal-Mart sticker on it!!!!! I don't know if it was the sitting on Wal-Mart shelves, a return or what but it's not in great shape.

That's pretty weird.
I bought Downton Abbey at BBY recently and although the set was shrink wrapped, the disks were obviously used. They looked like they were used as coasters with fingerprints all over them on both sides of the disk with fine scratches. As I looked at the shrink wrap, I realized it wasn't the same as from the factory. I suspected a swap from a BBY return. Interestingly, they supposedly don't accept returns if the disk was opened.

That's what mine arrived in. But then again, I also ordered a PS3 as well, so they were packed together with air bags separating them.

$34.49 on Amazon $6.89 ea is not bad at all. Ordered.
I'm very happy where 3-D is going, which is that it's becoming a choice - and thankfully, most people are still choosing 2-D.

Does anyone know what the deal with this is?

http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00E...pf_rd_i=915398

Is it the same transfer as the box set version?

Yes, same transfer. They were released individually overseas. You can get it much cheaper if you import it from amazon uk

thanks SO MUCH for these pics! I just pulled the trigger on this after comparing your pics to the individual releases with respect to the extras. Looks to be pretty much the same extras particularly on the 50th anniversary discs of Psycho & NBNW.....

Does the amazon.com/amazon.ca version of this set come with 5 movies in 5 normal Blu-ray cases?

I'd like to buy the set and then sell off one or two of the movies on ebay.

I'm not a fan of collections and really like to hold out for individual releases. I already have The Birds, North by Northwest, and Psycho... any idea if an individual release of Rear Window and Vertigo is in the cards for a U.S. release or do I have to get a U.K. release?

Be aware that if you get the UK BD of Vertigo, either individually or in a set, it will not have the original mono track. Only the US BD has that, and it's only available in the two Universal Hitchcock sets.

I know moneys tight these days, but even at roughly $50, its a steal. $10 a piece for 5 of Hitchcocks most cherished gems? Seems quite reasonable.
