Two weeks ago, I went on Disney's customer service site and filled out the required info for an envelope to be sent for my defective DVD, but I never got an email confirming the envelope was coming and it still hasn't shown up. For those of you who got replacement DVDs, how long did the whole process take for you?

A couple weeks, iirc. Give it a little more time.

I don't remember how long it took for me to get the mailing label, but I initially wrote to them on March 15 and I had replacement DVD in my hand on April 5, so, for me, the whole process took exactly 3 weeks. I was probably one of the earlier ones to do it, though; I wouldn't worry. If you still don't have it in a few days, you could write to contactus@disneystudiohelp.com, which is who I wrote to to request the exchange.

BTW: I was expecting an envelope as well, but it turned out to be a pre-paid shipping label. I wound up having to provide my own envelope. I used one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CD01CC

Wouldn't that technically be a prequel?

My local Wal-Mart still has slipcovers as well. I am not aware of any coupons for this one though.

the trouble with the BD

while the PQ s good i could not help myself notice that something was missing,

A screenshot comparrison on Caps-a-holic revealed at times the BD was showing less info than it's DVD counterpart (like Dr. No DVD was missing something at top and bottom) and at other times there were more info than the DVD had

Not good

Oh that's good to know.

I just picked it up at Sam's for $17.98 w/slip!

If I remember correctly, the slips were on the first-print copies of the movies. Then as the defects were found, the slips weren't produced on the next round of prints to differentiate between the two.
My Blu-Ray setup:
37" Vizio
Toshiba BDX2250 (with really bad built-in wi-fi)
... no home theater setup yet :(

From what I gathered, when the issue was discovered on the DVD all retailer copies were supposed to be returned back to the manufacturer. Once returned, the existing copies were opened and had the DVD replaced and were re-shrinkwrapped however when retailers received the corrected copies they were sans slipcover.

Walmart apparently kept their original stock as they had the slipcover through the whole ordeal.
