but no, I'm looking to go scene-hopping from all of them. Going to be a great day for 3-D, but a really bad day for narrative.
Well, it's easy to do Lion King--Just do Circle of Life, and then skip over to where Scar jumps out of the fog, and then move on to the next movie.

Thought the stampede might be interesting.

That, and Pumbaa first stampeding into shot from "behind" the camera.

Then move on to the Town dance/Lantern festival from Tangled.

Holy Frijoles.

We started with "The Circle of Life", cause my nephew loves THE LION KING. I was in love with the tech just from the menu screen.

I didn't monkey with the TV, cause it wasn't mine, but I'm pretty sure they had some sort of hyper-frame rate "cinemotion" setting enabled, causing very unusual frame-smoothing, which I'm not used to in animated films, especially films I'm very familiar with. That was my only gripe. Otherwise, we had a blast, and films looked better than I thought they could.

The quote of the night seems to be, "Look at the whiskers!"

Think the 3D-on setting on most sets automatically turns the frame-smoothing on high, so that the "solid" characters look more "real". In live-action, obviously, but also applies to animated.
As long as I think that's general policy for the sets, no gripe of mine.

I already preordered Tron, so that'll probably be the next to arrive. Bolt should arrive in the mail from Sony before too much longer. I've got a b-day coming up, will probably ask the wifey for Guardians and Coraline. :)

I've heard mixed things about both the 3D and the film. I personally haven't seen it.
Sanctum has awesome 3D--best on that list, in my opinion. I would compare it to Journey to the Center of the Earth without the gimmicky pop-outs. The delivery of the story certainly has its fair share of issues though.

I have yet to see The Adventure's of Tin Tin and wanted to pick it up though the 3D version is about 20 with the 2D version being less than half that price,I had read that the 3D isn't great on this title so what do you'd think? Is the 3D worth it in this film?

I thought Tintin's 3D looked very good but was nothing mind-blowing. I'd compare the 3D style to Brave. It was definitely worth it for me. Bought it for $15 on a Black Friday sale.

I own a Sony LED 3D TV! I have seen a lot of 3D movies and I have to say that Kung Fu Panda 2 is the best one yet! The 3D in movies are getting a lot better. Soon they will just have the TV and you dont have to wear glasses. But 3D movies are amazing(if they werent converted)! I have Megamind, Kung Fu Panda 2, Monsters vs Aliens, Toy Story 1-3, How To Train Your Dragon, The Polar Express, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides(which sucked), Cars 2, Tron: Legacy, Conan the Barbarian, Rio, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Final Destination 5, The Smurfs, Gnome and Juliet, Drive Angry, Piranha, A Christmas Carol, Open Season, The Green Hornet, and Monster House!

Default 3D Blu-Ray resolution question

Hey guys and gals, I'm a new member here! My name is Jordan, and, since I apparently cannot post my on questions in new threads, I thought I'd post my question here since I don't really see anywhere else I could post it. Anyhow . . .

I've been ripping some of my new 3D blu-rays to the hard drive of my NVIDIA 3D laptop so I can play the blu-rays without having to have to deal with the disc and see no reduction in quality since I'm ripping it to an ISO. NVIDIA can handle full-SBS (3840x1080) videos, which I am really excited about. I noticed in stereoscopic player that, when I played the main video file that I find within the ISOs that I have made, it showed up as half the horizontal resolution! That alarmed me because I thought that Blu-ray 3D movies played their movies in full 1920x(varies) resolution per eye and with no stretching of the picture for a total resolution of 3840x(varies).

An ISO that is unaltered shouldn't be doing that, right? Or maybe I'm selecting the wrong file, but I just selected the highest bitrate file, which I assume is the movie, and each time it has been. It just doesn't make sense that the movies are turning up as half-resolution horizontally instead of full 3840x(varies) when not in 3D. Is this how 3D blu-rays are made? Half-SBS or 960x(varies) per eye? If so, I might have to just keep my regular blu-ray versions due to their higher resolution for 2D!

Can someone please enlighten me because I will be thoroughly disappointed if 3D blu-rays are half-SBS 3D on the actual 3D blu-ray.

Thanks.

Morning all - long time reader, first time poster, etc etc!

Started collecting 3dBDs about 12 months ago and currently at about 20 or so. Now wanting to get some of the Disney films and.. woah, the prices are insane! Lion King is 25+, Beauty&TB is 35+, Bolt is 25+, Tron is anything up to 40! - Anyone know why these are so much more expensive? are they out of print?

Best wishes for Xmas
John

Disney do limited print runs and unless you get them when they are first released they become expensive fast.
