Default Epson 5010 and what screen?

Hey Everyone,

I currently have the Epson Home Cinema 5010 projector with a Grandview 100" fixed screen 1.0 gain in a light controlled room. I'm happy with the picture, the 5010 is awesome, but I wonder if another screen would yield even better picture? I appreciate any thoughts.

It's too subjective...If you're happy with the picture quality you're viewing now, I wouldn't sweat thinking about a new screen.

Not unless you want it to be brighter or larger.

Cool, I appreciate the feedback. I'm always curious how much better I can make things. crazyblue, I love your screen shots. I know you have the 8700ub which my 5010 replaced. What's the gain on your screen?

What about a .8 gain high contrast grey screen?

Are you getting any hot spots on your blackdiamond
G3 .8? I have mine matched with an Epson 5010
Projector and I have a sparkley hot spot in the middle
that's driving me crazy. Also is the black diamond g3 .8 gain
totally black because mine is a dark grey color. It also has
more of a shinny surface which is why I'm getting that hot spot.
I had a Screen innovation sensation screen before the g3 with no
hot spot. I wanted better black levels so I got the g3. Blacks are better
but that damn hot spot.

Any thoughts

Thx

Yes I have the same thing with my black diamond in the middle of the screen. That's the trade off. It doesn't bother me and it isn't prevelant with all programs and movies. I had a cheap screen before this and the image is night and day better with the black diamond. I'm happy with the purchase. I've had the screen since April now. I almost went with a Stewart Firehawk G3 which would of been a little cheaper but ultimately went with the black diamond. Most dealers I talked to pushed the Stewart over the black diamond but I just made a decision and stuck with it. I don't think I would of lost either way.

Since it's a light controlled room you don't need to go less then 1.0 gain for the screen (unless you're planning to use it with ambient lighting).

My screen (in my signature) is good enough for me. After getting my 5010 I had to cut cost somewhere. The VApex was too good a deal to pass up.
