I've just found a few copies of The Keep on DVD. It's on ebay and is being sold by a seller from Aus region 2 for about 6.00 plus postage.I've also just rented it for 2.49 off Amazon. So I'm going to give it a watch and see what it's like before I decide to go ahead and buy the DVD. I know it's not Blu-ray but there's not a lot anybody can do about it until an official BR release comes out.

It's better to have it on DVD than not if you want it.
I can't find the listings, but for one, Australia is Region 4, not 2.

The fact it's not listed on any Australian retail sites, it's pretty obvious a Laserdisc rip.

Please help and contribute to this Indiegogo Campaign both Michael Mann and Paramount are aware off it. So hope is if it does well it could push them to release the film on blu ray in the future.

Quote:
Shot over five years in six countries across two continents, A World War II Fairytale is a completely unique opportunity for you to learn more about one of Michael Mann's most wildly inventive, ambitious and unknown periods in his career. The production combines historian Stephane Piter's twenty-plus year archive on THE KEEP with that of hundreds of new interviews with cast, crew, critics & filmmakers. The documentary also unearths a wealth of material which allows a much deeper look into the filmmaking process and Michael Mann's working methods.

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/a...cumentary--2#/

Over the years, director Michael Mann has been made aware of A World War II Fairytale on a number of occasions . Through colleagues such as long-term collaborator and associate producer on THE KEEP, Gavin Macfadyen, long-term editor Dov Hoenig, and Mann’s assistant and friend of the Mann family Teresa Curtin, we knew when we started this, it was never going to be easy. All of the above though, have been thoroughly impressed with our project as a serious case for Mann to reassess his interest in THE KEEP.

Whilst it remains an incredibly difficult and personal experience for Mann to recount, we do stress that any petitions or requests to release the movie are unlikely to have any effect to release the film and that only a dual endeavour could have any semblance of the film itself having a future, something that helps to reignite Mann’s interest that he had had for the project in the first place.

We approached this project as Mann would a new movie and that is the way we wanted to present it to him. With your help to finish it, it will go straight to him upon completion, something we can guarantee. Now that Mann is working again with Paramount in some capacity, it is our best window of opportunity.

Our current backers believe in this notion, but not reaching our goal severely undercuts any future potential that the above will have. THE KEEP doesn’t have a future unless one is presented with something that can help aid in that or at the very least present a serious case to re-assess it. Not reaching our goal also impacts on our releasing strategy too, especially with a Theatrical run in mind. If you guys really want to see our documentary or the film in the future, then we do need your help to get closer to our goal. I couldn’t stress that highly enough.

Reaching our target of 1500 blu-ray pre-orders at 30 will help complete our edit ready for the creation of the blu-ray, which will be an incredibly rare thing in of itself to own, and certainly whilst the future of THE KEEP remains unknown. The 30 you pay today will be worth every penny from wherever in the world you are.

If we want engage Mann on a serious level together, then it can only be done this way.

Stewart Buck - Director

Its sadly just a rip of the terrible VHS version.

And in case anyone is still interested, the campaign on Indiegogo did not go well. Very far below their initial goal. They said they will still work on the documentary, but, it will take quite a while.

However, they are accepting pre-orders for the documentary on their website here. So, if you still want to support it, now is the time!
