Default Michael Gondry directing Seth Rogan in "The Green Hornet"

Quote:
Michel Gondry is in negotiations to direct The Green Hornet, Columbia Pictures big screen adaptation of the classic crime-fighting hero being played by Seth Rogen.

Stephen Chow had been tapped to direct but dropped out over creative differences. He is still expected to co-star as Kato, the Hornet's trusty sidekick and chauffeur.

The Hollywood Reporter says the studio is intent on making the feature one of its 2010 tentpoles.

Gondry's credits include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep and Be Kind Rewind.

"Hornet" follows the adventures of Britt Reid, a bored playboy who inherits his father's crusading newspaper, The Daily Sentinel. By night he is a masked hero, fighting crime with his sidekick Kato, who has incredible martial arts skills.

Interesting director choice, definitely intrigued to see how this plays out...

I think we are going to get an overdose of Rogen where he will become like Will Ferrell where the audience just does not care to see him anymore

I love Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and really enjoyed Be Kind Rewind. With Gondry on board, I have more faith now that Green Hornet could actually turn out good

Dopey fat guy does not 'bored playboy' make.

Seriously, with Rogens looks, if he were a 'bored playboy' he'd be sitting at home ordering escort girls and eating doritos while playing Xbox {and smoking pot}.

Now if he were a good looking actor, I could see it.

I'm not saying he's good looking, but have you seen him lately? He has completely slimmed down. I don't know anything about Green Hornet so I don't know if he could pull the role off.

The Green Hornet is essentially Batman in a suit, rich playboy who puts on a mask {and a suit} and fights crime.

On the surface this combination seems absolutely ridiculous... but it may just work, on some weird level.

3 completely different styles of comedy (Chow, Gondry, Rogan) all mixed together might end up with hilarious results, intentional or not.

Color me curious.

Sounds like this movie is gonna suck bigtime lol

Unless its a spoof of the green hornet as a comedy I guess(but that would prob suck too). How can Seth be taken serious as a superhero

Already there...
Because Calamari Marionette Ph.D sounded pompous, that's why.

The 60's TV show should have been titled 'The Kato Show'. People really only watched it for Bruce Lee. I can't imagine who'd step into his place escept for maybe... the Ong Bak/Protector dude. Since it was primarilly The TV show that jumped Lee into the North American eye, this could be a great vehicle for the incredibly talented Tony Jaa. I'd watch that. Anyone else? Um... I don't think so.

Chow is out as Kato, and possible Nic Cage and Cameron Diaz are in as villain and love interest, respectively...

NOBODY can replace Bruce Lee as Kato! What's next, a remake of "Enter The Dragon"?
