Thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for it to hit that price point.

Hmm, nice. I may have to reinstate my Prime for this if it's still up in the next couple of days.
Detective Cameron: I got good news and bad news, girls. The good news is your dates are here.
Sorority Sister: What's the bad news?
Detective Cameron: They're dead.

I got mine for $13.99 at Hastings on release day, September 30, 2008.

Is that 40th Anniversary Edition still coming from Warner Bros. (under their New Line Cinema label) in 2014?

Personnally I felt that the remake far surpassed the original, and the same can also be said about The Last House on the Left. I've seen the original many times, and try as I might to like it, I just don't. I found the remake was more intense and scary and keeps me at the edge of my seat.

This is just my personal opinion...

It might be because of your age. Seems like most people under 30 don't like the 1974 original, but really enjoy the 2003 edition. I'll be an old fart of 34 in July and I love the 1974 original, but I like the 2003 film just fine too.

I'm an old fart of 48, and I think the remakes are just pale shadows of the originals....

To be totally fair, the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, taken on its own merits, was.... OK (the less said about the subsequent sequels/prequels, the better).

The Last House on the Left remake is garbage. It's just another Hollywood horror movie and completely lacks the grit and sheer nastiness of the original. It also has one of the stupidest endings of all time.

...true. I agree. Oh, and I'm 49, myself.

I love both the original and the remake. They're very different films. They should've called the remake a sequel, it would've been received better.

I'm 22 and I prefer the original... but then again I'm pretty cynical and can't really look at remakes or sequels objectively.

I'm curious about the 40th anniversary edition though, is there any information at all about it?

Probably no info on it till next year since 2014 will be the 40th. That's my guess anyway.
