Question Under appreciated scenes!

I watched There Will Be Blood and the final thirty mins were terrific, but I couldn't help but notice that one scene is barely mentioned that is specifically powerful (Bastard in a Basket scene) but has all the hype sucked away like a milkshake by the following scene which everyone talks about.

So, is there any scenes in films that you feel get ignored or over looked due to other elements of the film?

Yes, you probably know two lines from "Jerry Maguire". Now name a third one.

Bonus points if you know a third line from "Scarface".

Is that Jerry MacGuire or Scarface?

I can see it working for both actually!

The opening scene of The Social Network is a perfect example of modern film making at it's best. Everything is firing on all cylinders. The acting is perfect, the dialogue is just impeccable thanks to a brilliant script by Sorkin, and the direction by Fincher is incredible. Not to forget, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's chilling score. The first 10 minutes of this film are nearly flawless.

Default A lot

"Expectations vs. Reality" in (500) Days of Summer.

Annie singing "Seems Like Old Times" in Annie Hall.

Walking on the moon (second monolith) in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The "defective players" argument in Moneyball.

Dinner argument in Rushmore.

Train crash in Hugo.

Matt finds Brian Sheer on a beach in The Descendants.

Antoine steals the typewriter in The 400 Blows.

Traffic jam in 8 1/2.

George listening to Peppy's interview at the restaurant in The Artist.

I also totally agree with the person above me. That's easily one of my all-time favorite movies, and the first 10 minutes or so indicate an instant classic.

The scene in O Brother, Where Art Thou? when Clooney is in the general store looking for Dapper Dan. I think the comedic timing of this scene is perfect and the set design was out of this world. The scenes that get the most attention are the 3 sirens singing, the radio studio, the scene around the train and the flood.
"Magnolia is operatic in its ambition, a great, joyous leap into melodrama and coincidence, with ragged emotions, crimes and punishments, deathbed scenes, romantic dreams, generational turmoil and celestial intervention, all scored to insistent music. It is not a timid film.

The entire dinner table scene from Goodfellas ("I'm working nights", the "hoof", the painting, the "You don't talk so much", etc). The shinebox scene is beloved by all, but my personal favourite is the one I just mentioned above.

As nasty as the famed Bear attack is, I found the final fight between DiCaprio and Hardy in The Revenant to be one of the most insanely brutal action scenes in recent memory.

The 'date' scene in The Fisher King.

It's so funny, sweet, adorable and heartwarming.

Made even more so on subsequent viewings, because you already know the horror that awaits in the scene that follows it

The tunnel scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory doesn't get enough love. It's far and away the funniest moment in the film.
My unranked top 5 movies
2001 A Space Odyssey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Big Lebowski, Psycho, The Castle

The scene in Star Trek V with McCoy and his father. The movie has it's problems but that scene was not one of them. DeForest Kelley nailed that scene, it was a pity he didn't have more scenes like that in the movies.

While the shower scene from Psycho is the most lauded (and deservedly so), I think this one is underrated...

In '95 when Heat debuted the shootout scene was all the talk. To me the restaurant scene between Pacino and De Niro was as just intense. Not sure if you'd call it underrated but its one of my favorites all-time.

From Jerry Maguire:

Show me the money

Help me Help You

You had me at hello

And one of the best scenes of the movie is Tom Cruise singing "Yeah I'm free, free fallin'"

And i dont know why Tom Petty didnt sue Tom for singing his song back in that time. But probably scientology wont let it anyway.
